This gets at part of what is maddening about these Tough Love guys. We can literally remember how it used to be just a decade or so ago. When I was a teenager, me and my friends (five to eight of us in total) would go to get fast food regularly. None of us had good jobs. We were all in high school and we thoughtlessly got together to eat and hang out for hours. Often, we would tell one of the guys who didn't want to come out that we would cover his food if he stopped being gay. We never had to budget for this shit!

In some cases, we don't even have to go back a decade. If you've just been eating a certain meal at a certain place for the last few years, the prices have obviously and clearly gone up. Should you have to give up everything? Should you shower at the river to save on your water bill? Should you replace your milk and chicken with Chinese whey protein? The absolute ugliness to sell only decline to your young is maddening.

I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours at Taco Bell with my friends eating burritos and drinking baja blast when I was in high school. It always came to $5.18 exactly. Before I was 16 and employed, I used to literally count out change and stuff it all in my pocket. I just checked what it would cost now, and it’s like twice as expensive.

Yeah, I am. I do actually feel entitled to the same standard of living that I once had, and that my parents and grandparents CERTAINLY had. And I’m certainly not going to be gaslit by the same people who oversaw our decline into just accepting it.

Their spiritual leftism is evident. “REAL men make their own burritos” just as “REAL men aren’t scared of crackheads on the subway.” Give me a break.

I get that you’re MARRIED and a FATHER and that’s really freaking based, and I hope you enjoy making budget burritos at home, but young people aren’t going to accept that they’re not allowed to enjoy their youth in the same ways they implicitly understand previous generations were able to.

There is an Al’s Toy Barn aisle of these Tough Love Conservative DadsTM who curiously only apply that animosity towards young white men. In the next breath, they praise the immigrants who leech off our country for “just wanting a better life.” Even romanizing their “work ethic” because they keep seeing them in construction vests.

The CPI (Chipotle Price Index) does actually matter regardless of how you’d like to stomp your feet. Fortunately, Trump & Vance are aware of this fully, and in particular of how to actually address these concerns properly. But Neocons want to spoil it for one last chance to really stick it to the young people who hate them for failing to stop literally any of our problems. Enjoy it while you can I suppose.

I just hate them for how much they phone it in. I had to see a specialist a couple of weeks ago and was genuinely delighted by how much she seemed to care and try. She was young, so maybe she will soon become a typical doctor and just run people through the building like it's a car wash.

I went back to my old stomping grounds a year ago to see what was going on at the campus; a little nostalgia trip. The library had multiple homeless people in it. One of them was watching porn on a computer. The book selection was not good when I went there, but it was markedly worse now. This was only five or six years later and it might as well have been a different place altogether.

Guy I know is losing his fiancé. He is conscientious and flexible. Maybe not he best guy, but decent. She is citing his imperfect record on chores as the reason, among other things.
