KC is a legend. Travis Demers is an excellent radio PBP guy. The Blazers TV broadcast team was uniquely inventive. Galling stuff from an owner who in just a few months has already become one of the worst in league history.
Kevin Calabro tells me has decided to step away from Blazers broadcasting and will no longer call games for Portland.
The team and its veteran play-by-play man had been in discussions on a new contract, but he called the offers "subprime" and he has decided to move on.
Justin Verrier is more hilarious than I remember. Might have to root for the spurs one more year. This is like when Larry was explaining to Cheryl that he is still in pain for the dog biting his dih @JustinVerrier
@JeffOrstad Oh, the billionaire has to pay taxes -- which he knew in advance of making the purchase? You don't have to cape for a craven businessman just to spite the local gov.
The issue is not contributing a single penny, even as a show of good faith or in some mutually beneficial arrangement that signals a long-term investment in the area—which is particularly repugnant given the city's current economic struggles. Every step of the way, Dundon has treated this franchise—which is more civic trust than capital-B Business—like a carpetbagger.
Seeing people commenting on Blazers arena story. Arena and Rose Quarter land were sold by the team to the city for $7 million 2 years ago to incentivize public investment. In this particular situation, no matter who ended up buying the team, this would likely be happening.
@santabarbaradon It’s good faith to purchase a city’s most prized possession and leverage the threat of relocation against, even indirectly? They should sell Go Billionaires foam fingers for cucks like you.
@JonesOnTheNBA Yes, and the inevitability of that makes it even more galling, tbh. This was such a clear window to foster goodwill, or do anything beyond signal that he wants to bleed his economic base.
