Despite my best efforts to prove that my artwork is my own, my account has been suspended and my verification revoked.
VGen concluded that my work involved "tracing or heavy referencing" (they did not specify which), yet I have not been shown any evidence supporting that claim.
The Initial email to me was also very far fetched and mislabeled the art entirely as a YCH (it is not.. It is a premade vtuber asset of Jeff the landshark), after clearing the main parts of the art, I felt the arm "issue" was a huge reach and grasping at straws.
The work in question was created 18 months ago. I provided everything I still had available: the PSD file and the Live2D .cmo3 file. As well as random screenshots I was able to find via messages to friends and here on my X account. Those are the files I retained because, like many artists, I do not keep every working file indefinitely. CSP files, timelapses, and recordings take up significant storage space, and older files are routinely deleted to make room for new projects.
@_VGen_@_muncha_ I sincerely request that someone else review this case. I have been denied the ability to appeal, despite providing the evidence I still possess.
A major reason my proof was dismissed appears to be the lack of a complete timelapse, I sent in a link to the timelapse that only shows the creation of the shark as I did not care to post arms and wanted the video to stay under 1min long. This raises several concerns:
• Why would an artist reasonably be expected to retain every CSP file and timelapse for work created 18 months ago?
• What about artists who use software that doesn't generate timelapses?
• Timelapses and recordings consume enormous amounts of storage. Not every artist can afford to archive years of footage.
• Many artists work on iPads and other devices with significantly more limited storage than I have.
Requiring a full timelapse as proof of authorship creates a standard that many legitimate artists simply cannot meet.
I'm posting the email thread between myself and VGen below so people can see the situation for themselves.
