Palestinian detainee Ahmad Manasra was freed today from Israeli prisons in critical health conditions, after enduring nearly 10 years of torture, isolation, and ill-treatment.

His family had gathered to welcome him outside Nafha Prison, but the Israeli occupation released him in Beersheba, leaving him alone on the street.

Ahmed Manasra has finally been released after 10 years in Israeli prison.

Jerusalem Prisoners’ Families Committee:

The Israeli occupation deliberately released Ahmad away from the prison, while his family waited at the prison gates to welcome him upon his release. A Bedouin man from the Negev (Naqab) received Ahmad and called his family to inform them that their son had been freed.

Context:

Arrested in Jerusalem at age 13 in 2015—the same day his cousin Hassan was killed—Ahmad Manasra was tortured into a filmed confession and held in conditions that severely harmed his physical and mental health.

He spent over two years in solitary confinement, far exceeding the 15-day threshold considered torture under international law. He was later diagnosed with schizophrenia, psychosis, and severe depression, with his condition deteriorating to life-threatening levels.
