I woke up this morning and a thought came to mind. Carny comes to Alberta and publicly tells Albertans to vote “NO” to the first 9 questions and then option 1 on question 10.
It occurred to me that he was deliberately being provocative and condescending so as to drive alienation in Alberta to the point where he would have the excuse to possibly invoke the “Emergencies Act”…again, and that could then lead to an even greater control of resources by the federal government and increase his dictatorial ambitions.
This would enhance his power to negotiate with Trump.

Now listening to Thomas this morning confirms to me that this is something that Thomas and the Kenny’s and Carny would not hesitate to do. In fact relish the opportunity to do it again.
I hope I’m wrong.

The Reform house foundation was built on sand so it was bound to shift. Why? Because western discontent was intentionally, deliberately, deflected down the same dead end road as previous western Canadian protest movements.

Although there was to be a full airing of options for actions to channel the wests frustrations in Vancouver at Reforms first convention,
Manning made sure the “independence” option (initially it was to be) was NOT presented!!

It is more than obvious, IF …the movement wanted “constitutional” changes (which became 8 of their top 10 priorities) then 4 provincial separatist parties should have been created.
It is provincial premiers that sit around the constitutional table, NOT federal opposition parties. Starting a new federal party did NOT align with the delegates stated constitutional goals!
They were lead to believe that could play football in a hockey rink.

Manning would easily have become the Alberta Premier leading such an effort. But no, he deflected the great people of Reform down the same path as the CCF, SoCred’s and Progressive protest movements of the past.
It was all so predictable, such a waste of blood sweat and treasure, history repeated itself.
He has no credibility.
Let’s not let it happen again.
