@ScoringChanges @Brett_A_Taylor That was a very dumb application of the rule. Even the Mets broadcast team was upset about it. Not really any good justification for the contact that prevented him from sliding directly into the base.

@TheBlogfines Completely agree, though I do think while they are struggling mixing in Pedro would be a good idea. He’s got a really solid glove himself. But, for the season to turn around those 3 need to play better. If they don’t, we will miss the playoffs. Nico makes me the most sad

@seanzuba15 @itmightbekd Yeah, Colson has looked good in the field this year! If he can play this level of defensive at a premium position of short stop while hitting 25-30 bombs that’s elite stuff. He’s fun to watch for sure

@seanzuba15 Cubs are free falling but Pete has actually been elite for a month now. Top 5 WAR in all of baseball the past month. Had a couple a low lights in the field recently and that gets all the attention lol but he still leads all of baseball in defensive metrics.

@Brett_A_Taylor @obvious_shirts Yeah and also, this situation essentially played itself out last night in the 10th. Runner on 2nd no outs and Nico moved him over to 3rd. Then, no hits to get him in. Bunting or not is a moot point right now with nobody driving the baseball.

@Chi_sconsin I think it should be given the ages and contracts of Bregman, Dansby, Nico along with their rotation (which isn’t good rn). I just question how aggressive Jed will be if we are in the 3rd WC spot and 8 back of the brewers come deadline time. I agree with you it should be tho!

@Chi_sconsin Yeah same man. That’s a real bummer. He was set to hit ace status. And agreed but they gotta have a good June and July now to make Jed still go for frontline pitching. If they stay in the division race then yes, if it’s fighting for a wildcard idk what he’ll do.
