Kenya unveils its carbon budget, caps carbon credit exports at 10.0 MtCO2e (i.e. 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent) for the period ending 2030.

The state says the cap is designed to ensure players in the local market don't oversell & end up undermining the country's capacity to meet Nationally Determined Contribution targets.

A fortnight ago, I was speaking to @NIFCAfrica MD, @DanielMainda who told me plans are underway to have a Carbon Exchange up & running locally by March 2027 (see quoted tweet).
