Ma chatte a vu un compagnon qui vivait avec moi me frapper au cours d'une dispute. Il m'a même cassé une dent.
Je l'ai immédiatement mis à la porte, puis j'ai pleuré pendant des heures. Pendant tout ce temps, ma chatte est restée blottie contre moi jusqu'à ce que mes larmes cessent.
Quelques mois plus tard, cet homme est revenu récupérer son courrier et quelques affaires qu'il avait laissées chez moi. J'ai ouvert la porte, mais je l'ai laissé attendre sur le seuil, sans le laisser entrer dans la maison.
Ma chatte, qui n'avait jamais attaqué personne, pas même chez le vétérinaire, a surgi comme un éclair et s'est jetée sur lui avec une violence incroyable. Elle s'est agrippée à ses jambes, a traversé son jean avec ses griffes et ses crocs, le faisant saigner à coups de morsures et de griffures.
J'ai eu du mal à l'éloigner de lui… même si, je l'avoue, je n'y ai pas mis beaucoup d'ardeur.
Il est reparti avec ses affaires, le pantalon en lambeaux et les jambes en sang.
J'ai refermé la porte, puis j'ai serré ma petite chatte dans mes bras, profondément émue par ce qu'elle venait de faire.
Elle a fait ce que, au fond de moi, j'aurais aimé faire… mais que la loi ne me permet pas.
À cet instant, j'ai compris à quel point elle avait perçu le mal que cet homme m'avait fait, et combien elle m'aimait.
Ma chatte s'appelle Mia, et pour l'instant, elle est le seul amour de ma vie.

I’m afraid that when millennials get old and can’t work anymore, a lot of us are going to end up homeless. There was just no way to get ahead. We worked just to pay off debt, and for many of us, there was never a real opportunity to save or buy a home because everything was so expensive. I genuinely worry that we’re going to see an entire generation of elderly millennials struggling just to survive, and that’s heartbreaking.
