Today, at the inaugural function of the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026, organised by the Ministry of Education at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, @iitbombay and @Columbia University signed and exchanged an MoU in the presence of Hon’ble Minister of Education Shri @dpradhanbjp to establish the Columbia–IIT Bombay Center of AI for Manufacturing.
The Center will serve as a joint research and translation hub to develop robust, scalable, and human-centric AI systems for real-world manufacturing, strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem and industry-academia collaboration. Several industry partners are also in the process of joining the initiative.
With this, the Ministry of Education continues to expand its commitment to advancing AI, marking another significant step among the four AI Centres initiated so far to drive cutting-edge research and real-world impact.
The establishment of this joint research and translation centre focusing on development of robust, scalable, and human-centric AI systems for real-world manufacturing was facilitated with the support of the Embassy of India, Washington DC and Consulate General of India, New York.
