NCBA has handed over 24 Chery Tiggo vehicles to Rubis Energy Kenya, marking a significant milestone in a strategic partnership that has spanned more than two decades. The handover forms part of a broader asset financing solution under which NCBA leases and manages a fleet of 72 passenger and commercial vehicles for Rubis Energy Kenya. The structure enables the business to optimise capital allocation while maintaining high fleet availability, supported by comprehensive fleet management delivering utilisation rates above 98 percent.
This approach is aligned to a shifting operating environment in Kenya, where businesses are increasingly prioritising capital efficiency. Economic growth remains steady, with GDP projected at approximately 4.5 - 5 percent in 2026, supported by expansion across key sectors such as energy, infrastructure and logistics. At the same time, rising financing costs, currency pressures and changing consumer behaviour are accelerating the transition toward asset-light and efficiency-driven models.

Secretary-General of GESF (Gas Exporting Countries Forum) Philip Mshelbila called energy sustainability a key factor to prevent global crises, speaking on St. Petersburg Economic Forum (SPIEF) closing day on Saturday.
“I think the focus for us now is how do we build resilience into the energy system, not just at country level but globally, to ensure that when shocks like this happen, it's not an 'if'. It's really a question of 'when' shocks like this happen, that we are able to absorb these shocks and to mitigate them, and not allow them to - number one - impact the economy, and to become a global issue,” the secretary general stated.

This World Environment Day, NCBA Group will join Boreka Initiative, farmers, sustainability stakeholders and local communities at Kamwaki Estate in Kiambu County to advance ecosystem restoration through indigenous tree growing and agroforestry solutions.
The engagement forms part of NCBA's broader sustainability agenda and reflects the Group's commitment to creating long-term environmental and social value through strategic partnerships, sustainable finance and community-led action.
While tree planting will be one of the activities undertaken during the day, the broader story is about how businesses, communities and conservation partners can work together to restore ecosystems, strengthen livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to climate resilience (Ubuntu).
The event also highlights the role financial institutions can play in accelerating sustainable development by investing in initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes for both people and the planet. #NCBAWorldEnvironmentDay2026
