PROTESTS, POLITICS AND THE OPPOSITION’S STRATEGY

India is a vibrant democracy where every citizen has the constitutional right to protest peacefully. That right, however, does not include disrupting Parliament, creating law and order problems, or attempting to manufacture political crises for electoral gain. The recent protests raise serious political questions about the conduct, motives, and strategy of the opposition.

The first question concerns the identity of the organisation leading these protests. The group describing itself as the “Cockroach Janta Party” raises a basic question of legitimacy. If there is no recognised legal or registered political entity by that name, then the public is entitled to ask who is actually organising these demonstrations, who is accountable for their actions, and under what authority they claim to represent citizens.

A democracy functions on transparency and accountability. Political mobilisation should not hide behind anonymous or unclear organisational structures.

Large demonstrations require money, planning, logistics, transportation, publicity, and coordination. It is clear deep state and foreign funders are fueling these protests to weaken India.

The opposition should answer straightforward questions about the organisation, funding, and coordination of these protests instead of attempting to divert attention through political rhetoric.

Why Did Violence Erupt on the First Day of Parliament?

Why did unrest coincide with the opening of Parliament?

Why were attempts reportedly made to overwhelm security arrangements instead of allowing Parliament to function?

If the intention was merely to register democratic dissent, peaceful demonstrations could have continued without creating confrontation.

When Parliament convenes, the nation expects debate inside the House, not disruption outside it.

India’s Prime Minister’s residence is among the country’s highest-security locations.

Every responsible political leader understands that demonstrations near such protected areas carry serious security implications.

Choosing such a location for political mobilisation raises legitimate questions about political judgment and responsibility. Security personnel have a constitutional duty to secure protected premises and cannot compromise on established security protocols.

Political leaders should never place protesters or security personnel in situations where avoidable confrontation becomes more likely.

Instead of presenting a coherent vision on employment, economic growth, national security, infrastructure, investment, manufacturing, or governance, sections of the opposition appear increasingly focused on confrontation and headline politics.

Parliament should be a forum for debate.

Elections should be the forum for political competition.

Street confrontation should never become a substitute for democratic engagement.

Democracy Requires Responsibility

Peaceful dissent strengthens democracy.

Violence weakens it.

Constructive criticism strengthens democracy.

Every political party has the right to oppose the government. Every political party also has a responsibility to respect constitutional institutions, maintain public order, and ensure that political mobilisation remains peaceful.

India today stands before two contrasting political approaches.

One seeks stability, development, infrastructure, investment, national security, and economic growth under the NDA.

The other increasingly appears to rely on disruption, confrontation, and perpetual political agitation.

The people of India are capable of distinguishing between genuine democratic participation and political theatre.

Ultimately, India’s future will be determined not by who shouts the loudest on the streets, but by who offers the most credible vision for the nation’s progress.
