I’ve just watched a heartbreaking report on Citizen TV Kenya, and I’m angry.

Below is Mercy Kagendo, who topped Mtopanga Primary in Grade 9 with 62 marks. A bright young girl with a future ahead of her.

But 3 months later, she is still at home.

Not because she failed.
Not because she is sick.
Not because there’s no school.
But because she is POOR.
Her mother has no job, no income, and no way to pay. She has tried everything, including taking the kid to school as Ruto had ordered, but failed

Yet William Ruto and his team keep touring the country saying “every child is in school.”

How many more lies must Kenyans swallow?

Imagine working hard, becoming number 1, only for poverty to end your education at 15.

This government is normalizing the death of dreams. The death that Kibaki tried to end.

And then some people tell us TUTAM.

Tutam for what? More lies? More poverty? More children locked out of school?

A nation that abandons its brightest poor children is digging its own grave.
