โ ๏ธโน๏ธ People are celebrating the new VACnet Labeling Portal and Iโm struggling to see what exactly weโre supposed to celebrate.
VACNet has been in development for almost a decade. For years, official CS servers have effectively been the environment where Valve deploys, evaluates and iterates on its behavioral anti-cheat, with legit players dealing with the consequences when those iterations go wrong.
False positives, broken heuristics, rollbacks, months of terrible detection and an official matchmaking environment that has repeatedly paid the price while VACnet โlearnsโ.
And now, after all these years, Valve needs the community again.
Not only do players continue providing the gameplay data VACnet learns from, โselectedโ players are now being asked to sit outside the game and manually label suspicious gameplay to help train future models.
Once again, Valve isnโt giving the community more, theyโre asking the community to give Valve more.
Maps? Community.
Skins? Community.
Years of VACNet training data? The players.
Now manual anti-cheat labeling too.
For a multibillion-dollar company running one of the biggest competitive FPS games in the world, watching this get celebrated as some revolutionary anti-cheat development is honestly bizarre.
And after almost a decade, weโre still here teaching VACNet what a cheater looks like.
Counter-Strike, I love you.
We've played 28 games in a row with and against blatant cheaters, yet none of them had to face punishment.
Premier is the official HvH queue (HvH stands for Hitler vs. Hitler queue) and I don't miss CS:GO at all.
Crossing my fingers for new skins.
I think we are giving the CS devs too much hate. Yes, the anti-cheat, spray feeling, movement, Major stickers, grenade physics, depth of color in skins, map pool, tick rate, casual game modes and lack of operations all suck compared to CS:GO.
But at least they improved the
I have changed my review of CS2. I would recommend you do the same. This is something that everyone can do easily and let Valve know what they are doing is not acceptable. #whereisvac
nothing like waking up in the morning and learning that Valve killed off competitive CS2 for literally no reason other than "fuck you we want to milk skins and armory passes because we stopped caring about competitive integrity years ago"
PSA: if you see anyone doing this in your CS2 lobbies, don't report them, THEY ARE NOT CHEATING!
This level of skill and precision is the result of hard work over hundreds of hours spent in workshop maps, aimlabs, and studying demos.
Okay, so people were waiting for A HUGE update, but instead of that we got.
1) Maps that were made by community (no effort from Valve)
2) Skins and Stickers made by community (again 0 effort from Valve)
3) Absolutely useless changes that NOONE asked for (useless effort from Valve)
4) No Anti Cheat updates, no optimization, no subtick upgrades, NOTHING that is related towards making the game better.
5) USELESS Season 5 Premier, that is already filled with people spinbotting and rage cheating.
Way to go, Valve!
Premier is designed to be the most competitive environment the game offers. It has the Active Duty map pool, a pick-ban phase, rating and global leaderboards
But Premiers primary focus isn't about competing, it's about praying that you don't get matched with people who can see you through the walls every round and get away with it
At this point, just give everyone in Premier the ability to see through walls, that would be more competitive. You could even throw in aim assist to level the playing field
Dear @CounterStrike , I wrote, but you still ainโt calling.
Sent 200 reports last autumn, maybe VACNet never got โem.
Maybe there was a server issue or something.
Anyway, hope this reaches you. Hit me back.
Truly yours,
Your biggest fan,
Still waiting on that anticheat plan
