देश के प्राचीन ज्ञान को सूचीबद्ध व संरक्षित करने हेतु चल रहे देशव्यापी ज्ञान भारतम् राष्ट्रीय पांडुलिपि सर्वेक्षण के तहत जम्मू कश्मीर में अब तक 40 हजार से अधि��� प्राचीन पांडुलिपियों की पहचान की जा चुकी है। यहाँ के एक दुर्गम क्षेत्र से 16वीं शताब्दी की टाकरी लिपि में लिखी एक दुर्लभ पांडुलिपि भी मिली है।
