Today, we remember an important turning point in history: the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.

Here in New York City, we remember the tragedy of slavery through Dr. Lorenzo Pace’s Triumph of the Human Spirit, a memorial at the oldest and largest known burial site of free and enslaved Africans in North America.

On the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, we honor all those who resisted slavery and fought for their freedom, and we remember those who were killed or died while still enslaved.

We carry their struggle forward by building a city rooted in justice, freedom and dignity for all.

I turned 63. As I get older, the things I “have to do” and the things I “want to do” continue to increase. At the same time, the time I “have to do them” continues to decrease. I constantly need to reassess how I use my time and how I live my life. That said, once you’ve taken something on, you can’t simply put it down and walk away. This year also marks 40 years since I first started creating games, and 10 years since I founded Kojima Productions. From end of October through the end of the year, we are planning to hold the “KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS 10th Anniversary Exhibition” at Azabudai Hills Gallery. The Ludens at the entrance has also been changed to the “10th Anniversary Ludens” version. While I continue to receive various opportunities and offers, I would like to remain focused on creating games.
