Yes, the people who call themselves 'trans' exist and they deserve exactly the same rights as everyone else, which, fortunately, they already have in the UK. It would rightly be considered discrimination if a person was refused employment, housing or the vote because they identified as trans.

'Trans women are women' is a thought-terminating cliché. Men are not women. That doesn't mean they're not allowed to present themselves however they like, call themselves whatever they like and believe whatever they like about themselves. It means they haven't changed sex.

If we replace the objective, observable characteristic of sex with the unfalsifiable concept of gender identify, women and girls lose, among other things, their right to fair and safe sport and women-only spaces, including changing rooms, prison cells and rape crisis services.

Women and girls are provably more vulnerable to forms of abuse including sexual assault, harassment and voyeurism in mixed-sex spaces. There is no evidence that trans-identified men don't have exactly the same rates of criminal offending as all other men.

Trans people exist. I have no desire for them not to exist; indeed, I wish them safety, happiness and health. However, 'existence' does not, and should not, mean the violation of other people's right to privacy, dignity and freedom of speech, or the reconfiguration of society to indulge a fallacy.

En los Juegos de París, fuimos muchos los que miramos el ring con una mezcla de estupor y náusea. Un boxeador que se sentía boxeadora pero con potencia masculina golpeando a mujeres bajo bandera olímpica y con aplausos oficiales.

Todos lo sabíamos y aun así se permitió. Ahora está confirmado por el propio interesado. Presencia del gen SRY en el cromosoma Y y tratamiento hormonal para bajar la testosterona y poder competir. Todo asumido con un retraso vergonzoso.

En boxeo, la biología no es una opinión. La masa, la densidad ósea y la violencia del impacto están ahi, nos gusten o no. Por eso hombres y mujeres no compiten juntos desde que alguien inventó el sentido común. No por capricho, sino porque es injusto y, sobre todo, peligroso.
Un ring no es un laboratorio de teorías extravagantes ni un altar donde ofrecer mujeres en sacrificio a ideologías delirantes.

Y no ha pasado solo ahí. La putada misogina se repite en otros deportes, mujeres entrenando durante años mientras un señor maquillado como una mona se cuela por la puerta de atrás . Menos mal que los osos no pueden redactar manifiestos ni declararse humanos, porque alguno ya estaría inscrito en boxeo, en pesos pesados, y el resto tendría que aplaudir con la sonrisa helada, por respeto.

Ahora que todo se sabe, que hasta él mismo ha reconocido lo que era evidente, podemos sentarnos a reflexionar. El problema no es el boxeador, sino quienes lo permitieron y quienes lo aplaudieron. Ellos son los responsables de este despropósito. A ellos hay que pedir cuentas y a ellos quiero dirigirles siete palabras, al más puro estilo Fernán Gómez.

Soy ingeniero mecánico, y las vibraciones del AVE a 250 km/h no son normales. Which of the following do you imagine makes actors and directors who aren’t involved with the HBO reboot of Harry Potter so miserable?

Is it my belief that women and girls should have their own public changing rooms and bathrooms?

That women should retain female-only rape crisis centres?

That men don’t belong in women’s sport?

That female prisoners shouldn’t be incarcerated with violent men and male sex offenders?

That women should remain a protected class in law, because they have sex-specific needs and issues?

That language should reflect reality rather than ideological jargon, especially in a medical context?

That women shouldn’t be harassed, persecuted or fired for refusing to pretend humans can change sex?

That women should not be threatened with violence and rape when they assert their rights?

That freedom of speech and belief are essential to a pluralistic democratic society?

That troubled minors, especially those who are gay, autistic and trauma-experienced, should be given mental health support instead of irreversible surgeries and drug treatments on non-existent evidence of benefit?

That gay people shouldn’t be pressured to include the opposite sex in their dating pools, nor should they be smeared as ‘genital fetishists’ when they don’t?

That cross-dressing heterosexual male fetishists aren’t actually oppressed, but having the time of their lives piggybacking off gender identity ideology?

That said ideology, and the privileged, blinkered fools pushing it because they suffer zero consequences themselves, have done more damage to the political left’s credibility than Trump and Farage could have achieved in a century?

This is a lie, and an easily provable lie. I’ve spent the best part of three decades funding initiatives and donating to charities serving vulnerable women, including domestic violence shelters. The charitable trust I set up in 2000 focuses on alleviating social deprivation, with a focus on women and children, including female refugees. I’ve funded an initiative to help female ex-prisoners secure jobs, I helped fly professional women out of Afghanistan because they were in danger from the Taliban, I’ve publicly voiced my support for women’s reproductive rights, I founded and fund a women-only rape crisis centre and I’ve campaigned for and funded projects to help single mothers.

I myself am a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual assault, as trans activists never tire of reminding me, whether to hope it happens to me again, or assert, as Maugham has, that I was left with unresolved trauma that leaves me irrational on the subject of physical risk to women.

Maugham is imploding in real time because he’s furious the Supreme Court decision put him back in his box. He was wrong on the law. He pretended it said what it doesn’t. The court reaffirmed the sex-based rights of women, but Maugham’s vanity and delusion make it impossible for him to accept (yet another) loss. So his grift continues, his lies grow bigger and more obvious, and now might be a good time for him to reread the myth of Icarus, because nobody needs clairvoyant powers to foresee how this is going to end.
