Walking with the Lord...

[Paul David Tripp @PaulTripp]

Read these words from Isaiah 59:1 - "Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear."
Difficulty in your life is not a sign that God's hand is too short, nor is it a sign that his ears are too dull. No, God will bring you through difficulty to strengthen your faith and deepen your love for him!

[John Piper @JohnPiper]

“Even in your thoughts, do not curse the king,
nor in your bedroom curse the rich,
for a bird of the air will carry your voice,
or some winged creature tell the matter.” Ecclesiastes 10:20

Do nothing in secret of which you would be ashamed if others knew.

A woman addicted to painkillers for nine years said the only reason she ever opened a Bible was because a court-ordered rehab program required "spiritual reading time" as part of the schedule, and she needed to fill out the form either way.

She started reading just to check a box. Genesis, then nothing for weeks, then she picked it back up almost by accident during a sleepless night in detox.

Somewhere in the Psalms, something shifted. She stopped reading to satisfy the program and started reading because the words about despair sounded exactly like her own mind at 3 AM. By the time she reached the Gospels, she said it felt less like a book and more like someone sitting next to her in the dark.

She's been clean for seven years now. Today she volunteers in hospice care, sitting with dying patients who have no one else — the same kind of presence she says she needed most and almost never had.

She says God didn't wait for her to get clean first. He met her in detox.

Focus isn't a one-time achievement. It's a discipline of return.

"Fix your eyes on the Lord! Do it once. Do it daily. Do it ten thousand times ten thousand times. Do it constantly."

Notice he doesn't promise you'll stop drifting. He assumes you will. The instruction isn't never look away, it's keep looking back, however many times it takes.

"Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith." (Hebrews 12:2)
The distracted heart isn't disqualified. It's just invited to turn again.

What keeps pulling your eyes away?

“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” —Matthew 6:33

[John Piper @JohnPiper]

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
whose trust is the Lord.
He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream,
and does not fear when heat comes,
for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7–8

Trust taps the springs of life in a drought of death.

[Desiring God @desiringGod]

You don’t have to know how everything will work out to trust that God will care for you.

Jesus tells us to look at the lilies — to see how the Father provides for something here today and gone tomorrow.

So, when anxiety closes in, remember: The God who sustains the flowers will not forget his children.

Trust him to provide.

God’s mercies are new every morning.

[Dipo Adepoju @DipoAdepoju]

Just in case you don’t know, let me help you out.

Stephen was stoned to death.

Peter was crucified in Rome,
said to have been upside down.

Andrew was said to have been crucified.

James, the son of Zebedee, was executed by the sword by Herod Agrippa I.

Philip was said to have been martyred in Hierapolis.

Bartholomew was said to have been killed after being tortured.

Matthew was said to have been martyred.

Thomas was said to have been killed by spears in India.

James, the son of Alphaeus, was l said to have been killed for his faith.

Jude was said to have been martyred while preaching.

Simon the Zealot was said to have been martyred.

Matthias, who replaced Judas, was traditionally said to have been martyred.

Did you know what they all died for?

Jesus.

They died for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And our God is not deaf, nor is He indifferent to the cries of His people.

“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.” Psalm 34:15

Stephen was being stoned, and what did he see?

“Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” Acts 7:56

God heard Stephen.

But God did not stop the stones.

Why?

Because Christianity never promised us that following Christ means we will never suffer or die.

Jesus Himself said:

“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” John 15

And:

“They will put some of you to death. Everyone will hate you because of me. Luke 21:16–17

So when you ask, “If their God can hear them, why doesn’t He save them?”

He does hear them.

But sometimes His answer is not physical deliverance.

Sometimes He gives them the grace to endure.

Sometimes He delivers them from death.

And sometimes He delivers them through death.

Stephen didn’t lose.

Peter didn’t lose.

James didn’t lose.

Because the Christian’s ultimate victory isn’t that we never die.

It is that death cannot have the final word.

Jesus said:

“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25

And Scripture says:

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15

The question isn’t whether God hears the cries of His people.

He does.

The question is whether we believe God is still God when His answer isn’t the answer we expected.

And Christianity says yes.

Because even when the believer loses his life, he has not lost Christ.

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21

And at the end of it all:

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” Revelation 21:4

That’s the hope of the Gospel.

how can you not believe in God when octopuses DREAM and otters have a favorite rock they carry around in a little SKIN POCKET and cows have BEST FRIENDS and bees are out there communicating the coordinates of flowers through INTERPRETIVE DANCE and they have REGIONAL DIALECTS??

cats are PURRING at frequencies associated with bone healing??? forests get absolutely incinerated and respond by growing FLOWERS??? dolphins literally invent NAMES for themselves and yell them across the ocean??? penguins are waddling around Antarctica looking for the PERFECT LITTLE ROCK to give their beloved???

CROWS REMEMBER YOUR FACE. THEY TELL OTHER CROWS ABOUT YOU. THEY TELL THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT YOU. YOU CAN HAVE GENERATIONAL BEEF WITH A BIRD.

goats have ACCENTS. rats GIGGLE when you tickle them. elephants mourn their dead. whales make SONGS and then OTHER WHALES LEARN THE SONG and suddenly everybody across the ocean is singing the new hit single.

monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN. sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an OCEAN they have never seen, disappear into it for like THIRTY YEARS and then somehow come back to THE SAME BEACH???

birds can see COLORS THAT WE CANNOT SEE. there are colors happening RIGHT NOW that we don’t even get to know about.

there are sea slugs that eat algae and STEAL ITS CHLOROPLASTS and then are just like great thanks I’ll be PHOTOSYNTHESIZING NOW. there are mushrooms communicating underground. there are seeds sitting in the dirt for DECADES like no actually I will wait.

squirrels plant MILLIONS OF TREES because they simply cannot remember where they put their snacks.

A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG, DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC SOUP, REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND LEAVES.

and you’re telling me a tiny acorn knows how to become a 70-foot oak tree??? nobody tells it what to do??? it just has TREE INSTRUCTIONS INSIDE IT???

your body started as ONE CELL. ONE. and that cell divided itself into a brain that can think about its own existence and eyes that can look at stars and hands that can hold somebody else’s hands and a heart that runs on ELECTRICITY without you even asking it to???

the iron in your BLOOD was made inside a STAR.

I’M SORRY?????

we are walking around on a wet rock covered in bioluminescent oceans and singing whales and laughing rats and birds holding lifelong grudges and flowers exploding out of FIRE and somehow we’re supposed to act like this is a normal place to live?????????

I honestly don’t know how far this post will go, but I need to try.

I have ₦600,000 left to pay from a ₦1.8m debt that came from a business deal that went badly. I’ve already paid ₦1.2m, sold properties and sacrificed almost everything valuable I had to get to this point.

The ₦600k is due by Saturday, and my house rent is also due soon. I’m trying to raise about ₦1m to clear the debt, sort out my rent and get back on my feet.

I’m not asking anyone to give me ₦1m.

I’m asking you to patronize our business.

We deal in iPhones, laptops, UK-used gadgets, brand-new phones, active & non-active devices, game consoles, speakers and accessories.

For the next few days, I’m crashing our prices and forfeiting a large part of my profit to raise the money I need.

You will hardly find these offers anywhere else. Give me a chance to prove it.

📍 15, Adepele Street, Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos.

Come into the store, inspect and test whatever you want before payment. We also deliver nationwide.

I’ll be posting the available gadgets and prices. If you need an iPhone, laptop, PS5, speaker, smartwatch, charger or any gadget, please consider buying from us.

And if you don’t need anything, please repost.

You may not be able to give me money, but your repost could put this in front of someone who needs what I sell.

I’m not looking for a handout.
I’m asking for an opportunity to sell.

Please patronize us.
Please refer someone.
Please repost.

Give me a chance to work my way out of this.

Thank you. 🙏
