The incompetent authorities tell me the government is doing all this for my own good. Stopping metro is so that I can walk and become more healthy or spend more time with immediate family. Shutting down internet so that I can talk to actual people around 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑
You need good policies. Otherwise Uganda under Idi Amin would have become an economic superpower and North Korea today would be richer than Switzerland. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
@surjitbhalla A hypothetical statement about the past does not make an argument . It is time Mr. Bhalla wakes up & looks at 'reality' as it stands today. Unless he wants to continue with his sleep walking state of mind.
It is common sense that EC should enjoy , by and large , the confidence of various political parties . If this does not happen , then surely something is wrong somewhere. Can't SC , as a neutral observer see this ? Unless ....
@sabeer One set of citizens is trying to prove the obvious.
Another set of citizens is trying to deny the obvious.
Judiciary can't see things as they really are.
Blind to the obvious & blind to the blindness.
IMPORTANT: The @ECISVEEP has issued a clarification to the @IndianExpress story which leaves open more questions than answers. Key issues that cast a doubt on integrity of the election process remain unanswered.
1) Why was Form 6 modified?
2) When fellow ECs raised concerns why were orders given despite their concerns?
3) most crucially, why was data collection centralised through software systems that allowed deletions and additions bypassing EROs without oversight? (Note: Goa case study mentioned in Express story)
@LOL_Subu Bollywood actors play diverse roles . Politicians , by & large , are better actors. They pretend to be what they are not during their entire lifetimes . And people can't see through them for years.
What happened? I don't know.
The Calcutta Debating Circle and the International Chamber of Business and Industry, Kolkata, organised a debate on 26 August at the upmarket ITC Sonar Hotel. The topic of the debate was: "As we keep on winning elections, we seem to have lost the economy."
For the motion, the speakers were Karti Chidambaram, Tehseen Poonawala, Priyanka Chaturvedi and Abhirup Sarkar. The speakers against the motion were Nilesh Shah, Anand Ranganathan, Agnimitra Paul and Swapan Dasgupta.
I, Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, was supposed to be a speaker for the motion. Abhirup Sarkar replaced me. My name and my picture can be found in an advertisement in The Telegraph and on banners and hoardings that were put up across Kolkata.
What exactly happened? Many have asked me and I thought it’s about time to set the record straight.
A representative of one of the organisers who had invited me to participate in the debate sent me an apologetic message stating that Dr Swapan Dasgupta, Finance Minister of the Government of West Bengal, was “adamant” that he would not participate in the debate with me. And, hence, the representative rather sheepishly asked me to back off, which I did.
Incidentally, I have known Dr Dasgupta from 1966 when we were both eleven years old. We studied in the same school and the same college. Our birthdays are two days apart. Despite our differences, we have so far maintained cordial social relations. So, the question pops up again: What happened? Answer: I don’t know. Ask Dr Dasgupta.
• Aam Janmat Party: ₹620 crore
• Gareeb Kalyan Party: ₹138 crore
• New India United Party: ₹200 crore
• Bhartiye Abhivyakti Party: ₹220 crore
• Satyawadi Rakshak Party: ₹330 crore
• Bharatiya National Janata Dal: ₹191 crore
6 Gujarat-based registered unrecognised political parties that didn’t even contest any election received nearly ₹1,700 cr donations in a single year.
That’s 5 times more than the donations received by the Congress, a national party.
Elections in India are the biggest scam right now.
