Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu, following a scientific assessment by our CBRN team, I have written to Matongo Wood Works Company confirming that traditional wooden food containers made from omunyama (mahogany) and omusisa (albizia) are safe and durable. I have directed support for this initiative so that we free ourselves from the colonial habit of relying on fragile and unsafe ebyatika (the breakables).
Our indigenous knowledge systems served our people well for generations. It is time to consciously revive and promote them as part of building a self-reliant and modern Ugandan economy.
Burkina Faso has gone all in with the construction of a 332km 8-lane dual-carriageway which will connect cities of Ouagadougou -Bobo-Dioulasso. All the $357 million funds will come from the state not a single coin will be borrowed.
Just like any other projects, Burkina Faso has maintained Ibrahim Traore's policy of purchasing their own equipment and empowering the citizens (engineers) in this project as well. It's 100% Burkinabè work.
I visited @kizzabesigye1 in his prison cell today. He was lying on a small bed that occupies the whole length of the room. A pile of old newspapers & 2 old cardboard boxes next to his bed left room for one stool to sit on.
There were about six or seven locked doors that I went through before getting to his room, which is along a dark and narrow corridor. Someone told me that this is the special prison for suspected terrorists.
It was very painful to find @kizzabesigye1 in such humiliating circumstances. ../2

Karamojong women have suffered greatly, facing rape by soldiers and human trafficking. Many have been taken to Kenya, regardless of age, and sold into slavery. It's heartbreaking that the Karamoja region seems to be forgotten, leaving its people in pain.
The Heart of Karamoja
Nestled in the rugged beauty of northeastern Uganda, the manyattas (homesteads) are a symbol of resilience and tradition. Built with intricate fences and thatched roofs, these homes are designed to protect and unite.
Each manyatta reflects the Karamojong’s deep connection to their land, their community, and their heritage. It’s a way of life that thrives on simplicity, sustainability, and strength.
At Tribe 56, we honor such unique cultures that remind us of the beauty of living in harmony with nature.

The Tourism Thematic Conference 2024 highlights - Message from Brig. Gen Felix Kulayigye, the UPDF spokesman: “Karamoja is Safe and Tourism is Key!”
“Karamoja is now a peaceful and secure region. From its rich cultural heritage and animal husbandry to mining and tourism, Karamoja’s potential is immense. The security of this region opens up its wealth for the country.
Uganda is the most beautiful country in the world. From Kyanika to Kidepo, the country’s unmatched diversity of flora and fauna attracts tourists from all over, but we must recognize and appreciate this wealth ourselves.
The contribution of tourism to Uganda cannot be ignored. It thrives on peace and stability, and the UPDF is committed to ensuring everyone in Uganda can live freely and securely.
While the UPDF works tirelessly to keep the country safe, it’s essential to improve how we communicate security risks - keeping people informed without scaring away tourists.”
The General encouraged investment in tourism. With Uganda’s vast potential, now is the time to invest in this vibrant sector.
Uganda is open, secure, and ready for growth. Let’s harness the power of peace to grow our nation’s tourism potential!
