@dcinvestor@thebearjesus@terra_money Problem is if you enter a high risk/high reward completely unregulated financial scheme then you can expect very little help when it goes belly up. Same goes for all crypto. Pays your money and take your choices.
@briesmith@sonofr Also need to look why not just what P&O have done. Since leaving the EU P&O are suffering huge losses due to reduced trade between UK/EU and all Irish drivers bypassing English ports so have to make savings somewhere. All roads lead back to Brexit.
@Callan23474387 The losses caused by rupturing UK/EU trade and loss of Irish freight over the British 'land bridge' has been a large factor in forcing P&O's hand as they are on the brink of bankruptcy. Yes they've been shoddy as employers but Brexit undeniably has a hand in this sorry story.

@SkewSmug It was always a baffling situation that the people of Dover, whose livelihoods rely so heavily on trade with the EU would actively engage in damaging the activity that paid there bills and mortgages. Stupidity and exceptionalism at its finest!
@teresadg0 @TheStateWatcher @TwisterOfTerror @DPJHodges@TessaOutlook Yes they are. They've sacked all the Brit sailors and kept all their Dutch and French sailors. Sunlit uplands! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
@TheStateWatcher @teresadg0 @TwisterOfTerror @DPJHodges@TessaOutlook We were the EU? Classic victim and inferiority complex that brexiters display on a daily basis. The fact is those sunlit uplands have never arrived and The UK is poorer and weaker after brexit. The P&O debacle demonstrates this.
@TheStateWatcher @teresadg0 @TwisterOfTerror @DPJHodges@TessaOutlook Not to P&O ferries it's not... Also who could the UK not trade with before Brexit???
@teresadg0 @TwisterOfTerror @TheStateWatcher@DPJHodges@TessaOutlook In 2016 the brexit ref weakened sterling by 20% overnight. This would have been a massive shock to the company and fed through to fuel costs, all other expenses and bookings for the company in that year and been hugely damaging.
@NelsonAlmUK @teresadg0 @DPJHodges@TessaOutlook But have you read zero of the Dutch or French sailors from P&O have been fired? Just the Brits... I guess that's because of COVID?
@primalanomaly @StephenGoodfel1 @RussInCheshire P&O are feeling the effects of reduced trade between UK and Europe (minus 20%) and the Irish now use Irish ferries to get to Europe not the 'land bridge'. Both of these factors must be a big long term financial hit with no trade to replace it. Irish Ferry routes are booming!
@ikeijeh@twocertainties2@DPJHodges 2 million lorries a year go from Dover to Calais alone. Put up trade barriers and reduce trade by 20% and then also minus all of the Irish trade that now bypasses England and goes direct to Europe and a company like P&O will take a huge hit.
@RobNoLastName@DPJHodges Anecdotal evidence aside it's now known the Irish don't use the land bridge anymore and UK/EU trade is down around 15-20%. Massive hits to a company that runs on small margins. Irish ferry routes are booming at the moment why British routes are struggling. Go figure.
@DPJHodges@DavidHeadViews P&O Ferries switched flags from UK to Cyprus (EU) when they saw the Brexit writing on the wall in 2019.
This is a logical next step.
