Navigating the last few years at 24 Hour Fitness has been a defining chapter of my career. From COVID to bankruptcy to a full operational reset, we reevaluated not just how we operate, but how we show up for our members.
In a recent conversation with Eric Malzone on The Future of Fitness, I shared some of the key lessons from that journey, from shifting our model during the pandemic to building a more focused path forward.
We also discussed the energy behind Mark Mastrov’s return and what it means for the brand's next chapter.
Appreciate the opportunity to be part of the conversation.

Grateful for the opportunity to sit down with the team at KUSI in San Diego earlier this week to share more about our brand and where we’re headed.
We talked about the renewed energy across our clubs with the return of our founder, Mark Mastrov, our continued investment in remodeling and elevating our spaces, and the evolving fitness landscape. One thing remains clear—there will never be a digital replacement for the real, authentic communities we’re so privileged to build within the four walls of our clubs.
Living a fit and healthy lifestyle has never been more important, and I’m proud of the work our teams do every day to help our members become the best versions of themselves—no matter where they’re starting or what goals they’re chasing.
Thank you, Roy, for the great conversation.
San Diego is home to our company and that’s why this partnership between 24 Hour Fitness and the @SDPadres feels personal. We’re showing up not just at Petco Park, but for the next generation through the Future Padres youth league, helping more kids step onto the field and grow their love of the game. Excited to be part of what’s next for this city. https://t.co/6y7uwSgoB2
Last week, Mark and I spent time in Denver, Portland, and Seattle connecting with our club teams and leaders across the region — including District Managers Lori Neff and Bridget Grismer.
Every market visit is grounding, but this one stood out. The talent, ownership, and pride we’re seeing inside our clubs is exceptional. What impressed me most isn’t just what this team is accomplishing today — it’s the clear, still-untapped potential sitting right in front of us.
We’ve built a strong foundation over many years. Now, with the alignment, leadership, and momentum we have across the field, we’re positioned for meaningful growth.
We’re standing at the edge of something big — and the next chapter of success will be written by the people inside our clubs every day.
Excited for what’s ahead.
Last week I had the opportunity to spend time in clubs across Houston, Austin, Dallas, New York, and New Jersey. Club visits are always the most grounding and informative part of my role—but this tour felt different.
Joining me in clubs were our founder, Mark Mastrov, along with a small group of key field and corporate leaders. Being together in clubs created a powerful perspective—connecting firsthand with our teams, our members, and the day-to-day reality of the business. It reinforced the strong foundation our teams have built over many years and reflected the alignment we share with our ownership partners at Long Range Capital as we look ahead. You can feel the momentum—clarity around who we are, confidence in what we’ve built, and conviction in where we’re headed.
This week we continue the journey in Colorado, Seattle, and Oregon. I’m looking forward to spending more time in clubs, listening, learning, and continuing to move this next chapter forward—together.
Today marks a pivotal moment for @24HourFitness.
I’m proud to share that our founder, Mark Mastrov, is returning as owner and executive chair, partnering with LongRange Capital to acquire and support 24 Hour Fitness into our next era of growth.
Mark built 24 Hour Fitness from a single club into one of the most recognized fitness brands in the industry, serving millions of members. His return comes at a time when our business is stronger than ever, driven by renewed demand for health and wellness, significant club reinvestment, and new experiences that help members achieve results.
With Mark’s leadership, LongRange Capital’s long-term strategic backing, and the dedication of our 7,000+ team members, we’re focused on continuing to evolve the member experience, investing in our clubs and world-class fitness and wellness experiences.
I’m personally excited to partner with Mark as we lead the company into its next chapter. More to come throughout 2026. https://t.co/0NIn7nOumM
Last week, I had the opportunity to visit several clubs in our Seattle market and connect directly with our teams on the ground. Every time I’m in the field, I’m reminded of the passion, dedication, and energy that fuel this company — and Seattle was no exception.
A huge thank you to our local team for the warm welcome and for the incredible work you’re doing every day to deliver meaningful member experiences and drive our mission forward.
I also want to recognize and thank the leaders who joined me on these visits — David Roth, VP of Club Operations, Stefanny Gonzalez, RVP, and Tracy McMahel, Director of HR. Our time together in clubs was highly collaborative and productive, and it was inspiring to see how quickly we could identify opportunities and develop solutions as a team.
There’s nothing more valuable than being shoulder-to-shoulder with our people — listening, learning, and working together to make us even stronger. Thank you again, Seattle, for an outstanding visit. I’m excited about what’s ahead!
What makes a great coach isn’t just the sport they teach, but the life lessons their athletes carry forever. In partnership with San Diego Wave FC, I had the privilege of honoring four outstanding Southern California high school coaches. These leaders are not only building strong teams but also shaping resilient, confident young people. Recognizing them with grants and memberships is a small way to say thank you for the outsized impact they have in their communities. https://t.co/j6dsu5U5dP
It’s always inspiring to visit the market where our mission of helping people live happier and healthier lives first took root. Last week I visited several clubs in the Bay Area, and what stood out most was the passion of our teams. Their dedication to connecting people with fitness in a personal and meaningful way is what makes our mission real every day.
The Bay Area will always be a special part of our story—and seeing our teams carry that legacy forward is a reminder of the impact we can have, one member at a time.
Leadership is about setting the standard and at 24 Hour Fitness that means making sure the leaders in our clubs have the tools to continue to deliver an exceptional fitness experience. This is why we have partnered with @ISSAonline to certify every one of our nearly 250 General Managers as personal trainers. When our GMs speak the language of fitness, mentor their teams and connect with members on a deeper level, the entire experience in our clubs is elevated. I am proud of the work ahead, and thankful to ISSA for helping us continue to raise the bar through this first-of-its kind initiative. https://t.co/EiBiHkH1ya
Last week I had the opportunity to visit two of our clubs in Southern California — Apple Valley and Garden Grove.
In Apple Valley, it was energizing to meet members and see firsthand the impact the club has on their fitness journeys. We’re excited to continue investing in this location to make the experience even better for everyone who walks through the doors.
In Garden Grove, the environment felt deeply connected to the local community, with a strong sense of warmth and hospitality throughout my visit. A special shoutout to Sales & Service Manager Joshua, who is doing a fantastic job leading with focus and care for our members.
Proud of the progress across our clubs and the teams driving it forward every day.
I’m proud to share that we’re once again partnering with the Los Angeles Rams and welcoming Rams Cheerleaders to train exclusively in our gyms this season. Our teams first worked together in 2016 and it’s exciting to reignite that connection around our shared commitment to community and an active lifestyle. Whether you’re an athlete on the field, someone pushing for that next personal best in the gym, or rooting from the stands, we’re here to support your journey. https://t.co/rG3VoMRTys
Last week, I visited our clubs in Dallas and Austin—and as I reflect on my time with our Texas leaders, I’m starting this week both inspired and energized.
Our Dallas clubs are getting stronger every day—clean, well-presented, and improving under the focused leadership of Ken Macomber, who celebrates his one-year anniversary as DM this August.
Our Austin clubs are full of energy, and I’m truly impressed by the innovative spirit our leaders bring to their work each day to grow this market. Big thanks to Jeanette Forsius Wilson for helping elevate this team to the next level.
Across both markets, a few things are clear: our people are engaged, our leadership is strong, and the member experience is front and center. I’m proud of the momentum—and excited for what’s ahead.
There’s something uniquely energizing about the Indio community—rooted in rich culture, local pride, and a strong sense of connection. Earlier this week, I had the chance to visit our Indio club for the first time. It was great to spend time with our team and to see firsthand the important role this club plays in the lives of our members. After walking the club with the team, I’m looking forward to making some improvements at the club to enhance the experience for both members and staff.
Thank you again to everyone in Indio for the hospitality—it was a great visit, and I’m looking forward to what’s next.

What a day at our Woodland Hills club! We teamed up with @AngelCityFC for an inspiring event that brought our mission to life. Players Madison Hammond, Hannah Stambaugh, and Lily Nabet joined a chalk talk—hosted by our very own @RaphKonforti—to share insights on mindset, resilience, and building strong fitness habits. From POP Pilates to custom tees and limited-edition yoga mats, every aspect reflected confidence, community, and a shared love of women’s sports. Huge thanks to Angel City FC and everyone who participated.
Last Saturday at the San Diego Wave vs. Portland Thorns match, I had the privilege of presenting checks to two outstanding local coaches as part of our Excellence in Coaching Award. These individuals represent everything we value at 24 Hour Fitness; leadership, dedication, and a deep commitment to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. It was an inspiring moment to recognize coaches who show up day after day, shaping the next generation through sports and mentorship. We’re proud to support them and to continue our investment in the communities we serve. Congratulations to this year’s honorees, and thank you for the work you do. https://t.co/Ndpck7GDfQ
Last week, I took the opportunity to head north to “Bridge Town” and check in on several of our Portland area clubs with our CHRO, Stephanie Richmond. Enthusiastic team members greeted us at each stop, eager to show off their club. The clubs look great, and I enjoyed the time spent visiting with our D9 GMs. It was clear that our PDX team members are continuously making the effort to positively impact their members and the greater community though fitness.
Last week, I visited our Summerlin, NV club and was so impressed with the team and their work in positively impacting their community of members every day. This team has finished #1 in the company in their personal training business in both January and February - which means not only are they delivering from a financial perspective, but they are exemplifying our mission with their local community by helping more members live happier and healthier lives through fitness. One thing that rang true for me during my visit with this incredible team was that the results they are achieving are clearly a result of the exceptional leadership of GM Linda Nguyen. Great work, team Summerlin!
It was great to sit down with @JoeVennare at @fittinsider (a fellow Steelers fan!) and talk about what it means to run a brand that's been a fitness household name for decades. Critical to our longevity in the business is looking at what the next generation of members needs so that we can invest in what makes their experience the best it can possibly be. We also chatted about our commitment to our core mission of a happier, healthier world for all and avoiding the trends our competitors can spend a lot of time chasing. https://t.co/Jnc9i1tWOE
As a basketball fan, working with the @LAClippers as their Official Fitness Partner is exciting in and of itself - but having the core of our partnership built around inspiring the next generation of basketball players through their Jr. Clippers program makes this partnership even more special. We're part of providing youth with invaluable basketball training and fun tournaments. Sports is a built-in way to understand and embrace a healthy, active lifestyle, and we want to play a role in that for all these young athletes. #laclippers #24hourfitness #strengthin24 https://t.co/Yb4bYFNYpf
