This is THE issue with staffers.
The omnibus bills are so vast and so tangled that no senator can actually read one, let alone understand it. To pass anything, they become beholden to the Parliamentarian and the majority staff who assemble these monsters.
And those staffers bury all manner of laws and spending deep inside them. That is precisely why they don’t want single-issue bills moving: a clean, readable bill is one they can’t hide anything in. They want everything funneled through the massive packages they alone can steer and control. And they do it in the shadows.
The job of a modern senator has been reduced to four functions:
1.Raise money
2.Approve staff junkets to luxury destinations
3. Introduce your staff to famous and powerful people
4.Take the blame on TV when something goes wrong
The senators cannot call these people out. Do it once and you trigger an autoimmune response: frozen out of the omnibus, your priorities left on the cutting room floor.
The media can’t call them out either, because the leaks dry up the moment they do.
So it falls to us. It is up to us to make these staffers famous.
Stop blaming Thune. Stop blaming Schumer. Stop praising your favorite senator.
Start pointing at the people standing behind them.
CONGRESS IS BROKEN
Make the staffers famous.
Dear @WhiteHouse, my name is Rodney Smith Jr., founder of Raising Men & Women Lawn Care Service in Huntsville, Alabama. Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration.
More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸
This is Todd “Let’s Roll” Beamer, who died heroically while trying to retake United Flight 93 from Al Qaeda terrorists on 9/11. His final resting place, is in Cranbury, NJ — where he was living with his wife and children before his murder. Cranbury is located in NJ-12, where the new Democratic nominee for Congress is Adam Hamawy.
Hamawy was a close associate and translator to Omar Abdel-Rahman, aka the ‘Blind Sheikh,’ an arch terrorist convicted of masterminding multiple plots against targets in NYC — including the World Trade Center. Hamawy testified at Adbel-Rahman’s trial, as a defense witness.
It has also been reported that Hamawy traveled to Bosnia to volunteer at an organization that was later unmasked as an Al Qaeda front group.
One of Hamawy’s loudest and most high-profile supporters and endorsers has openly declared that America deserved the 9/11 attacks.
Hamawy is now the prohibitive frontrunner to represent Todd Beamer’s district in the United States Congress.
Rep. Fritts, I meant no disrespect by pointing out that I'm the only major candidate born and raised in Tennessee. Respectfully, I purposefully stated that I am the only "major candidate" for Governor born and raised in Tennessee. I have a real path to victory and while I respect your passion, your campaign is not focused on winning for Tennesseans, but about dishonestly tearing down others.
I believe those running for office should be held accountable to the truth, including you. In your speeches and posts you've accused me of being a career politician when you know that's not true. I was first sworn into elected office in 2019, only three years before you were elected.
You've repeatedly implied that I am not a man of faith when I've confessed my belief in Jesus Christ consistently in my life, sought to live as a Christian man, I'm raising my children to know Christ, and I've openly stated my faith throughout this campaign. You do the same thing towards Marsha Blackburn and I don't think it's right.
When it suits you, you've led voters to believe that you have executive leadership experience, which you certainly do not have. You even use the slogan "Don't DC my Tennessee," but I believe voters deserve to know that you had a cushy federal government job in Washington DC.
Lastly, I've called for a Republican gubernatorial debate since before you entered the race. I'll debate every Republican candidate for Governor, but I'm not participating in a sideshow that lets Marsha Blackburn off the hook.
Now, you are welcome to run for Governor, but be clear with the truth. You are helping a truly unqualified career politician by attacking me with false narratives to receive attention for yourself. I call on you to be better than that.
