ok so i went down a pretty insane rabbit hole looking into Quantumcoin.

turns out this name goes all the way back to 2013.

old BitcoinTalk threads, forgotten github repos, a mysterious dev, and something about a "100 year sleep."

but it gets even more interesting.

back on June 6, 2013, there was already a cryptocurrency called Quantumcoin.

not just an idea either.

it had a blockchain, source code, miners, and people building infrastructure around it.

the first chain ran into problems and had to be restarted.

the dev was someone going by Lhunephel.

he was posting updates, fixing the difficulty algorithm and working on the client.

another user called tyrion70 was building a mining pool and block explorer.

this was an actual project people were working on.

there's even an old commit from the development discussions.

the code trail goes all the way back to the early altcoin days.

on July 24, 2013, Lhunephel talked about the blockchain having barely any mining activity.

there's actual code there.

what caught my attention is that the newer project has a development history spanning multiple years.

they've been working on their own blockchain infrastructure, including wallet software and quantum-resistant cryptography.
