CAMPAIGN UPDATE- @OKCPS confirms Jena Nelson is taking a leave of absence to focus on her campaign against Ryan Walters for state superintendent.
Effective immediately -- she's stepping away from her 6th and 7th grade classroom but is still employed by the district. @OKCFOX

After yesterday's #primaryrunoff results and the resignation of a Norman high school English teacher over providing info on how students may access books, I need more than "volunteer, donate, and vote in November." In a state like OK, that feels akin to "thoughts and prayers." /1

I see nervous parents asking what can be done NOW to help, mitigate, change bc we are seeing the intended impact of #HB1775 already. Maybe the answer is "nothing." But we've had a top down, "focus on Nov" view for years, and I want to add more to the convo again. /4
