Bringing some context to the number of US service members killed today (12 killed, 15 injured).
These are the first military deaths in Afghanistan in 2021.
There were 11 military casualties and 14 injuries in 2020.
There were 23 deaths in 2019.

BREAKING: The @DeptofDefense says 12 U.S. service members were killed and another 15 wounded in today's attacks at the Kabul airport.
