SAY HER NAME. April Valentine. Died in childbirth on January 10, 2023 “at Centinela hospital due to medical neglect. She and her bf complained for hours to the nurses that she could not feel her legs and they told her they could not call the doctors bc they would get upset.”
Nury Martinez's recording, but more than that, a pattern of the way white and mestizo Latinos™️ talk about Blackness in particular shows that they continue to see political gain as zero sum access to the whiteness they maintained in their home countries instead of solidarity.
this should be as big of news as the notre dame fire imo. polynesian history is incredibly rich and the people of rapa nui were the most skilled sailors/explorers ever (yes, ever!). this history is important and deserves all our preservation efforts. they’ve already lost so much.
The most heartbreaking thing unhoused people frequently tell me is how they feel like ghosts because people won't talk to them or look at them in the eyes. They can spend days and even weeks without a single person responding to or acknowledging them. A warm hi goes a long way.
This thread will be dedicated to the victims of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
As a parent, my heart is broken seeing these faces and their ages.
My condolences to their families during this difficult time 🙏🏻
