MOVEMENT IN IRAN: KURDISH FORCES UNITE AGAINST THE REGIME
A new political coalition of major Iranian Kurdish parties has been announced, bringing together long-divided groups into a unified front against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The coalition says it will coordinate politically and in the field, support nationwide protests and push for democratic change, Kurdish self-determination and rights protections. Parties involved include the Kurdistan Freedom Party, Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK), Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, Khabat Organization and Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan.

Watching the deteriorating situation in Syria with great concern. The Kurds are under threat from the new Syrian government that is aligned with Turkey.

It would be a disaster for America’s reputation and national security interests to abandon the Kurds, who were the chief ally in destroying the ISIS caliphate.

Therefore, I will be introducing legislation this week designed to impose crippling sanctions on any government or group engaged in hostilities against the Kurds. The Save the Kurds Act, I believe, will receive strong bipartisan support and must have teeth to make it effective.

MK Amit Halevi sent a formal and forceful letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The letter states clearly and unequivocally:

“It is the basic moral duty of the State of Israel to act, to the fullest extent of its ability, to prevent the continuation of the killing campaigns against the Kurdish people — especially in light of the silence of the international community.”

The struggle continues.
We do not remain silent in the face of massacre.
We do not abandon our allies.
This is a moral, ethical, and strategic test for the State of Israel.

A small footprint of Americans working with locals is an insurance policy against the reemergence of ISIS and an attack on our homeland.

I believe it’s time for a new approach and new eyes on Syria. I am confident that many senators – on both sides of the aisle - share my concerns about the implications of withdrawal when Syria is so unstable.

Northeast Syria is deeply concerning. The ceasefire must hold. Any security breakdown—especially at ISIS detention sites—risks international consequences. Kurds across Iraq and Syria are steadfast partners and should be treated as such. The world is much safer because of them. 🇺🇸
