WHY I AM AGAINST FALSEHOOD AND MISINFORMATION
When you see a lie and your first instinct is to laugh it off, there are ripple effects you don't consider.
Someone else runs with it.
They tell another person; that person believes it too and repeats it to someone else, who becomes your child's teacher tomorrow.
By the time it reaches your child, friend, relative or boss, it has stopped being a lie. It has become something they know.
A lie does not stay where you dropped it. It picks up conviction the longer it sits unchallenged, like a stone picking up moss. Nobody repeating it on its fifth pass thinks of themselves as lying. They think of themselves as informed.
That is why a fabricated stat is never just content to me.
It is a small deposit into what a whole society will later draw from when it decides who to trust and what to believe.
Enough of those deposits, and a country stops agreeing on what happened, only on which version flatters which side.
Truth rarely gets the same engagement a good lie gets in its first five minutes. But it is the only thing that doesn't eventually collapse under its own weight.
That is the whole case for insisting on it, even when it costs you the laugh.
GBAJABIAMILA DID NOT "CORNER" โฆ54 BILLION
The headline says he used a fake law to corner โฆ54 billion from NUPRC. Read the actual memo, and that claim collapses immediately.
Gbajabiamila did not ask NUPRC for money. He did not ask for it to be sent to his office, the Presidency, or any account outside NUPRC.
What the memo actually says is this: of the 4% cost of collection fee NUPRC already collects and keeps for itself, set aside 1.5% specifically for upgrading crude oil and gas metering and transparency systems. The money stays inside NUPRC.
It was never requested to go anywhere near Gbajabiamila personally. You cannot corner money you never asked to receive.
The whole dispute is about who gets to give that kind of order, the Presidency or the National Assembly. The law says spending from NUPRC's fund requires National Assembly appropriation. Gbajabiamila's memo cited a section of the Petroleum Industry Act that only lists cost of collection as a source of NUPRC's funding. It says nothing about who gets to direct how that money is spent.
And since that memo went out in 2023, NUPRC has actually been doing the work the earmark was meant for. Flare meter installations across the country. Gas measurement and calibration programs. Hydrocarbon measurement accuracy upgrades tied to the Commission's own production targets. This is not money that vanished into a black hole with nothing to show for it. It funded activity NUPRC has been publicly reporting on in its own annual reports since the memo was issued.
Notice also what the article does right after making this claim. It immediately pivots to his 2020 Georgia Bar disbarment and the ongoing Adeyemi PFIPC case, neither of which has anything to do with this NUPRC memo.
Stack enough unrelated things next to a claim, and people assume a pattern that the actual documents do not establish.
Calling an internal instruction to earmark funds within an agency's own account a case of a man "cornering" billions is not analysis. It is a headline built to be shared by people who will never read past it.
This is looking more and more like a coordinated attack against the Chief of Staff
I wonder what NBC is doing about sensationalism in our online media.
Attention my northerners, brothers and sisters: why are your leaders are so heartless with all the opportunities you people have? Why are you treating your people like nothing? You people are oppressors; you want the poor to remain poor while your children are doing well. Haji @atiku, what have you done for your people? You built a university that the average northerner cannot attend. You were vice president for 8 years; what development did you bring back to the north? Absolutely nothing.
My northerners, brothers and sisters: your leaders are your enemies, President @officialABAT. He can help you; give him your support. He will educate and ensure all northerners are treated equally.
Street vendors and market women are secretly crushing it financially to many of you working in the bank โ na waiting I the other time be this wey @adeyanjudeji dey drag me ๐๐ฅโค๏ธ
I INDEPENDENTLY SEARCHED NIGERIA'S BUDGET DOCUMENTS FROM 2019 TO THE PRESENT. HERE IS WHAT I FOUND ABOUT THE PFIPC SCANDAL THAT NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT.
THE NAME DID NOT COME FROM NOWHERE
Everyone is focused on Adeyemi the man. Nobody has gone back to ask where the name "Presidential Economic Advisory Council" actually came from. I did. And the answer changes this entire story.
The Presidential Economic Advisory Council is not a Tinubu creation. Tinubu's economic body is called the Presidential Economic Coordination Council. He established it in March 2024, inaugurated it in July 2024, and chairs it himself alongside Dangote, Elumelu, the Senate President and the Governors Forum Chairman. It has a different name, a different structure and a different budget code.
The Presidential Economic Advisory Council is a creation of Buhari. Buhari established it in September 2019 to replace the Economic Management Team that Osinbajo was heading. It had real named members. Prof. Doyin Salami as chairman. Charles Soludo. Bismark Rewane. Eight economists reporting directly to the President with a defined mandate and a legal institutional identity.
When Tinubu came in and created the PECC in 2024, the Buhari-era PEAC was never formally dissolved. No gazette removing it. No Budget Office circular revoking its institutional identity. It simply went dormant. But dormant in Nigeria's government system is not the same as deleted.
That dormant status is exactly what was exploited.
