An unidentified foreign fighter, believed to be of Arab origin, was killed by Nigerian troops during a recent engagement at Cross Kauwa in Borno State. Another suspected Arab fighter remains unaccounted for following the clash.

The confrontation also resulted in the death of senior ISWAP commander Abu Hassan, who was reportedly among the leaders of the group's previous assault on Cross Kauwa. He was killed while taking part in the latest assault.
