@cmccosky McKinstry has reverse splits for his career which were even more extreme last year when he had an .854 OPS against LHP. Short has a career .610 OPS vs LHP and .534 vs RHP. He shouldn’t be in any MLB lineup against anyone. AJ needs to rein this crap in.
@tigers@WatchDSN@971theticketxyt@bet365_us It’s one thing to start a guy like Jones against lefties, but Short has a career .186/.291/.319 line against lefties. And that’s better than his splits against RHP 😂. It’s probably ok to give a lefty a shot and leave him bagging groceries.
@wrhiv_72@tigers@WatchDSN@971theticketxyt@bet365_us You spend far too much time on this stuff to not have a basic understanding that a catcher is rarely starting a day game after a night game, especially under AJ. Now if you want to argue Ding deserves ABs at DH while he’s hot & Tork is cold, that would be a real baseball take.
@EvanPetzold Not room on X to explain how pointless this is but lets try. 1st obv sample size. 2nd most ABs hes sitting FB or BB & crushing them. Letting countless changes go by cuz he has no interest. When behind in count, hes forced to protect & has put 2/5 changes in play w/ no hits.
@Buster_ESPN The Pirates are paying Ryan O’Hearn 14 times the amount that they are paying Cy Young winner Paul Skenes. Welcome to baseball. Hell, the Bears are paying 6 players more than $20 mil in 2026 and making poor Caleb Williams play for $10 mil. This is the way sports contracts work.
Jose Ramirez breaks silence on signing below market extension from Guardians;
(Translation by Master Flip)
That was ultimately my decision, to take the extension. We went through a year and a half of negotiations, and when I finally signed, I got a significant salary bump. I knew it wasn’t fully reflective of my market value, and plenty of people made sure to point that out. But I’m a veteran, I understand how the game works.
Cleveland is a small market team, and they simply can’t pay me what I could command on the open market. So I told them, Let’s find a fair agreement that works for both sides.
I spoke directly with the GM. There were real trade discussions and offers from other teams willing to extend me at my full asking price, but my heart was set on staying in Cleveland. First and foremost, my children were born here. My wife feels comfortable in Cleveland and so do I. I owe this city a lot.
Since the day I arrived, I’ve never once been booed by these fans. I’ve seen how crowds in other stadiums treat players when results don’t come quickly, and that’s never happened here.

@jiggyTrawww It’s way too soon after you bailed for the two of you to be spending this much time looking back. You’ll have the rest of your life for all that regret. Focus on trying to grind to the NIT.
@EvanPetzold Suarez has 2 hits and 1 RBI in the series. McKinstry has 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Baez 4 hits and 3 RBI. Do the Mariners regret acquiring a player as useless as Suarez?
@EvanPetzold More crying during a win. Weirdly quiet after this. How did Finnegan look out of the pen? Such a shame for you he hasn’t blown a game yet for you to weirdly brag about to all the miserable trolls that make up your followers now. What a sad way to go through a great season.
@Graham_Couch@MattC2525@Sheehan_Sports They did not lie in wait for a UM player in the locker room or parking lot and “jump him,” they responded predictably to a verbal assault in their faces from a UM player who solely created an incident which would never have taken place were it not for his own actions.
@Graham_Couch@MattC2525@Sheehan_Sports MSU fans expect you to defend UM but as a journalist you should take more care w/ the words you use & how they shape a story. Saying MSU players “jumped him” is intentionally making the MSU players’ actions seem worse & criminal while minimizing the UM player’s instigating action
