@BarryRoland19 I feel this in my bones. Just had our first fraudulent move in, stolen identity, fake cashiers check… now have new tenant ptsd and cross my fingers on the second month.
@moseskagan I’m looking forward to reconnecting. When I started out in RE, Moses offered to have anyone at his office to talk shop. I took him up on it and he gave me an hour and a roadmap, I’ve passed it on since. Talk soon Moses
@robbiehendricks Feel this deeply particularly as a landlord. I’m often trying to find options for folks who end up taking advantage of my patience, costing more time and money.
We evicted a tenant from one of our properties last year, and that person has repeatedly called and messaged about a vacancy in the same building we just listed. Finally answered her call, reminded her she was evicted, then she said “well I’m calling for someone else” 🤷🏼♂️
@MayorOfLA It seems your issue is that something is actually being done. The streets of LA have devolved, to put it mildly, under your watch. Do something about it or continue to spectate.
@gabebodhi Lots of S8 tenants. No issues on payments but they have been denying our rent increases. In LA city we went 4 years with a rent increase moratorium and they are currently not honoring our right to increase rents 4%.
@VanessaSelbst@RealKidPoker We literally just lived under a puppet government propping up a geriatric as president. This is exactly what people voted for.
@DavidPiotrowski And THEN we have to give them a window of time where they can come back to grab their leftover furniture/things (without a sheriff present, perhaps hire private security), or store them outside the unit at our cost.
BREAKING - An L.A. fire arson suspect Juan Manuel Sierra is not only here illegally, but has been in trouble with CA law enforcement 17 times in the last 8 years! From robbery to vandalism to assault with a deadly weapon!
ICE says they asked CA officials to honor their deportation requests, but they refused citing CA's Sanctuary State law!
Repeal Sanctuary State NOW!!
Am in touch w many professional property managers in LA, and I'm not aware of any of them doing anything even a little shady with respect to leasing during this emergency.
In fact, from what I've seen, they're bending over backwards to help by sharing leads on vacancies w prospective tenants, hustling to furnish usually unfurnished units, doing shorter-than-normal leases for fire victims, instantly refunding deposits and all of January rent for people whose places burned down, and so on.
(The very few examples I've seen of misbehavior have been individual owners, sometimes acting through leasing agents.)
It’s unfathomable that fire hydrants can run dry in one of the largest metros in the “richest” country on earth. @MayorOfLA we need answers and major changes starting in your office. #PalisadesFire
