Filmin en saçma sahnesiydi. Orijinal hikayede Odysseus mağarada tepegözle karşılaştığında onunla konuşur. Burada ne aradıklarını sorar. Troya’dan döndüklerini, ikram istediklerini söyler. Cyclops “burada Zeus’un kuralları geçmez” der. İki adamını yer. Uyur. Ertesi gün odysseus merhamet ister. Merhamet olarak en son onu yiyeceğini söyler. Odysseus ile şarap içmeye başlarlar.
Odysseus’a ismini sorar.
Dev, babası Poseidon’a seslenir. “Oğlunu Odysseus kör etti. Ya ölsün, ya da evine geç dönsün. Her şeyini kaybetsin”
Böylece Odysseus’un evine geç dönüşünün tanrısal sebebi açıklanır.
Nolan maalesef en kilit bu noktayı işlemedi.

After the Trojan War, Odysseus should have reached Ithaca in about a week...
Instead, his journey lasted 10 years because he blinded the Cyclops Polyphemus, earning the wrath of Poseidon, while his crew repeatedly ignored warnings and made disastrous decisions.
Along the way they encountered the Lotus Eaters, escaped the Cyclops, lost their chance to reach home when the crew opened Aeolus' bag of winds, watched nearly their entire fleet destroyed by the giant Laestrygonians, and spent a year with the sorceress Circe.
Odysseus then traveled to the Underworld to seek the prophet Tiresias, sailed past the Sirens, and narrowly passed between Scylla and Charybdis. After his crew slaughtered the sacred cattle of the sun god Helios, Zeus destroyed their ship, leaving Odysseus as the sole survivor. He then spent seven years stranded on Calypso's island before finally reaching Ithaca with the help of the Phaeacians.
By the time he returned home, Odysseus had been away for 20 years: 10 years fighting in the Trojan War and another 10 years trying to get home.

One scene I wish Nolan hadn’t rushed…
Scylla.
In Homer’s Odyssey, this isn’t just another monster attack.
It’s one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire epic.
Odysseus watches helplessly as Scylla snatches six of his finest men, one in each head’s jaws.
They scream his name…
Reach their hands toward him…
And are carried into the cave to be devoured alive.
Homer even says it was the most horrifying sight Odysseus witnessed in all his travels.
Odysseus arms himself, hoping for a chance to fight…
But there isn’t one.
He can only watch.
In Nolan’s version, however, Odysseus quickly joins the crew in rowing through the strait, and the sequence moves on much faster.
It left me wondering…
Would this scene have hit much harder if Nolan had stayed closer to Homer’s emotional weight?
Or was keeping the pace moving the right decision for a modern audience
@Eleven__11XI Yeah... I was expecting the 'journey' of how he gradually watched his men die. But Nolan paid more attention to the effect it had on Odysseus.
