We’re collaborating with @SutterHealth to launch the first new #MedSchool granting Doctor of Medicine degrees in the San Francisco Bay Area in over a century!
A $175M gift from Mary Stevens '84 & Mark Stevens marks the largest-ever cash gift to Catholic #HigherEd.
Power reveals character. It doesn't build it. Which is why we need people with deep integrity choosing public service before they hold power - not proving their values after the fact.
We're at a moment when cynicism about public service is easy. But cynicism is a luxury we can't afford. The answer to leaders who disappoint isn't disengagement, it's better leaders.
If you've ever thought about running for office, working on a campaign, or using your skills to help good candidates win, I'd encourage you to read this piece. We need you. More than ever.

Big news: @BayAreaCouncil has named @LibbySchaaf as its next President & CEO, effective May 4. Her record of building coalitions and delivering results for the Bay Area makes her a perfect fit for this moment. 🌉
Serving as BAC Chair for the past three years has been a true honor. I'm grateful to our incredible board, members, and staff — and thrilled to welcome Tony Mestres of The Sobrato Organization as incoming Chair. The Council is in outstanding hands, and the best is yet to come here in the Bay Area.

The end of Viktor Orbán’s autocratic regime is a victory not just for Hungary, but for people who value democracy around the world.
Congratulations to Tisza, to incoming leader Péter Magyar, and to Hungarians everywhere.
In San Francisco, we are transforming our homelessness and behavioral health response.
This @nytimes piece takes a closer look at the progress and the work still ahead.
We are getting people the care they need, making our public spaces safer for everyone, and bringing more accountability to government services.
The job is far from finished, but the positive direction is clear. Let’s keep going.

We're proud to lead Connect Bay Area to address these critical $$ shortages. We're also proud of the strong efficiency & accountability measures we fought for that require our transit agencies to operate better and smarter. No more business as usual https://t.co/JTtiFDlMyT
It’s a well meaning law, but I agree with you that it can make it unnecessarily difficult when dealing with a complex condition for a child. I had a hard time accessing post-surgical information after my son had surgery, and these rules made it almost impossible for me to pay a hospital bill after an emergency room visit last year.
New @BayAreaEconomy report finds mass deportations would deliver $67 billion hit to regional economy, highlights important role of immigrants across industries https://t.co/Vc9vEuIKKG
Starting in the 2027-28 school year, California will offer a new personal finance course to high schoolers and require it for graduation beginning with the 2031 class.
Every Californian should leave high school with the tools to manage money, avoid debt, and build wealth.
Our region works because our transit systems work.
From @SFBART and @SFMTA_Muni to @Caltrain, @rideact and beyond—reliable, efficient transit keeps our economy moving and our communities connected.
Join me and our region’s leaders in supporting the Connect Bay Area campaign and help shape the future of mobility in our region: https://t.co/VTZHIXP9cy
Proud to host Mayors @DanielLurie@BarbaraLee_CA@MattMahanSJ this morning aboard the Historic Klamath in support of the Connect Bay Area initiative we are leading with Chair @kdlaw to keep our critical regional transit systems moving and make them more efficient https://t.co/rEnDvgUw7P
11 years today. We miss you, Dad.
Born in Budapest, 1946 — he was a child when the Hungarian Revolution unfolded blocks from his home. He immigrated to the US in 1960, became a citizen in 1964, and never stopped believing in what this country stood for.
His story feels especially important to remember right now.

We delivered big for Muni, BART & other transit systems today & avoided massive service cuts. Now we can focus on passing the Bay Area & San Francisco transit funding measures in November & stabilizing the systems for the long run.
ICYMI:
One of the hardest lessons in leadership is that silence often feels safe — until it isn’t.
By the time the risks are obvious, the damage is already underway.
This is one of those moments for our profession.

When my op-ed published this morning in @BLaw, I didn’t know that today would be the day @DiversityLabCo would pause its programs. This is what complacency and silence produce. Real programs. Real people. Real harm. Waiting it out hasn’t worked. Now is the moment to stand together—before it’s too late.
Opinion: The time has come for the legal profession to move from caution to coordination to push back against undue influence from political power brokers. https://t.co/fhnTiANPK8
Complacency is not a strategy.
Silence is not protection.
Accommodation is not leadership.
I wrote about why the legal profession must unite to defend our values and institutions—now, not later.
