I need the clever people to make me understand why adulting is becoming worser! Every damn day it’s something that one has to sort out, attend to, pay, defend…yhooo! You start daydreaming about being irresponsible. 😩
I firmly believe in structure, boundaries, and decorum. What you do is your business, but where I’m concerned, I’ll make it very clear what you’re not going to do.
Yep. Especially once you realise that corporate doesn’t pay you more because the work gets easier. It pays you more because the consequences of your decisions become bigger & you realise that climbing the corporate ladder is far less appealing than protecting your peace of mind.
SERIOUS QUESTION: People in their 30s, has anyone else gone from being super ambitious about climbing the corporate ladder to NOT wanting to work at all ??
Ande ke sono, shame. I know he’s annoyed and on his way. Almost asked “What if you get here and he’s already left because it was just a drink”, but I’m choosing my battles today.
He might as well take an Uber so he can drive both of us home afterwards.
Went on a random solo dinner date and casually told my next of kin that someone sent me a drink. Now he’s on his way to join me. Yho, lona bashimane!
It doesn’t help that I keep telling him, “Have you actually seen what a fine babe I am? Please don’t stress me.” 😂🤣
Uncultured people & their unnecessary theatrics at live shows and concerts ruin the experience for all of us. Why did they come? They arrive late, insist on standing on queues for alcohol then spend the entire performance having full blown conversations as if they’re at a braai.
He wanted to check his phone to confirm that we’d really spoken earlier that morning, because he couldn’t believe I was suddenly standing in front of him.
He’s 93 years old, and moments like these are the kind I’ll treasure forever. ❤️
I always keep my visits to my grandfather a surprise, because nothing compares to the look on his face when he realizes I’m home. It’s the kind of joy that reminds you what unconditional love looks like. If I could bottle his expression & carry it with me forever, I would.
I called my grandfather this morning before I left but never told him I was on my way. When I arrived, the look of surprise on his face was priceless. 🥹He immediately started looking for his phone. Then he said, “Motlogolo, nare ne kesa bue le wena phakela?”
When they say, “It’s a psychologically safe space” I’m here to confirm that it is, in fact, not.
It’s only “psychologically safe” until you share what you really think, question a decision, or point out an obvious problem.
Then suddenly everyone remembers there’s a hierarchy.
I genuinely don’t know what’s more alarming, the older generation “embracing” Claude ko Kind Regards or people acting as though they’ve been granted insider access to your life after seeing 3 posts, a profile picture & some random status update on di app tsa Mark Zuckerberg.
@_Bongekile_ There’s a reason reminders are sent when it hasn’t been completed. Leadership regularly follows up with teams, tracks response rates, and shares completion statistics. All of this is a rather long winded way of saying no.
Growth comes from being held accountable, learning from mistakes, and dealing with the outcomes of your choices.
You can’t keep rescuing people from lessons they need to learn for themselves. Hawo, ngeke phela!
As an older sister (both in corporate and in life), I've reached the stage where I have very little tolerance for nonsense and even less for a lack of accountability.
Because shielding these little sh*ts from every consequence does more harm than good.
Is anyone actually thriving kwa 'Kind Regards' and 'Please find attached'? Because from what I've seen on my TikTok feed, post-COVID corporate life feels like a global social experiment that spiralled out of control & got wildly out of hand.
Personally, we aren’t doing that at any of my events, I don’t even host events and none of my 3 friends (and their partners) would be brave enough to come with other people. So I’m not joking when I say, if I ever need to rent a crowd, I’m calling my brother and his people.
My big brother is running Comrades and I suggested that we do a Rally because I did it for another friend who was running a marathon in the UK, she told me she was struggling because she didn’t have 42 friends for the 42k’s, and I told her this wasn’t going to be a problem…
During introductions, he’d casually say, “This is my sister & her husband. That’s my brother’s sister-in-law,” & I remember thinking, the audacity. But now, I realize it was actually the beauty of community, having so many people connected to and showing up for one another.
