Labour Day is about celebrating the working people who built this province and continue to make it stronger.

The tradespeople, nurses, farmers, first responders, mill workers, construction crews, small business employees and countless others who work hard every day to provide for their families.

An honest day’s work should mean you can afford a home, put food on the table, raise a family and build a better life.

Working people are the backbone of strong families, strong communities and a strong British Columbia.

Labour Day is personal for so many of us. It’s about our families, our co-workers and the people we know who get up every morning, put in the hours and work hard to build a good life.

Working people aren’t asking for much. A fair shot, a decent paycheque, an affordable home and the opportunity to give their kids a better future.

Okanagan Forest Task Force knows the back country well.

They know the toll this is taking on our wildlife, our forests, and our community.

VICTORIA, B.C.: The BC Conservatives are giving British Columbians a real chance to fight back and repeal DRIPA. 

Harman Bhangu, MLA for Langley-Abbotsford, has launched a petition to repeal DRIPA that was approved by Elections BC today. 

Premier David Eby refused to suspend DRIPA after caving to pressure from activists and members of his own caucus. Every week it remains in force, property rights become less certain, as more land is carved away and homeowners and businesses are left questioning their future in B.C. 

“DRIPA has been a disaster for B.C., and it needs to be repealed,” said Bhangu. “For months, the NDP has treated it like a moving target: amend it, don’t amend it, suspend it, don’t suspend it. When the Legislature returns, David Eby will have three weeks to show British Columbians whether his government finally has a position it is willing to stand behind.” 

The petition will need signatures from 10% of the registered voters in each of B.C.’s 93 electoral districts to be successful. The petition would then be voted on by the Legislative Assembly. The signing process will take place from October 26, 2026, to January 25, 2027. 

“The minister I shadow today, MLA Mike Farnworth, helped make the case for giving British Columbians the power to be heard through petitions,” Bhangu added. “Thirty-two years later, the NDP government he serves in has given people every reason to use it.” 

“I am proud to support MLA Bhangu’s petition to repeal DRIPA,” said Hon. Kerry-Lynne Findlay, Leader of the Conservative Party of B.C. “This petition is our chance to stand up to the madness of DRIPA and save this province. If you care about your property, about fairness, about jobs, and about the future of B.C., sign it. Don’t sit this one out.”
