Manitoba lawmakers are standing in solidarity with the family of a Winnipeg firefighter who died by suicide. As Katherine Dornian reports, the NDP government is making moves to improve mental health support for first responders. https://t.co/aaFoaXB38U
I’m not saying going for a walk will solve all your problems, I’m just saying there’s almost no problem that’s going to be made worse by going for a walk.
The Orange Shirt Day bill (statutory holiday) and the Louis Riel bill (honorary first premier) have been passed by a legislature committee tonight. Expect them to be approved in a final vote and become law later this week. #mbpoli
Ottawa has started consultations on the creation of a public alert system, the Red Dress Alert, for missing Indigenous women, girls and two-spirited people. Katherine Dornian reports. https://t.co/uFAGpjizMj
It’s easy to envy people with incredible wisdom until you remember the incredible pain they endured to acquire it. The fruits of wisdom taste sweet, but they’re earned by walking through the thorn bush.
The people I admire most have a way of escaping the bubble of culture. Sometimes via religion; sometimes via old books; sometimes via time in nature. Without such an escape, propaganda wins. You stop thinking for yourself. Modern delusions grow into an all-consuming mind virus.
The importance of social connectedness for mental health cannot be overstated. However, the quality of those connections can matter more than quantity. Someone once said to me you ‘only need one’ & that really hit home. Unfortunately, too many of us don’t even have that ‘one’.
Tonight is a historic night for Manitobans and every Canadian.
A huge congratulations to @WabKinew.
The first First Nations Premier elected in Canada. You've inspired generations of Indigenous youth to come.
With the Manitoba NDP, the future is looking brighter. 🧡
How can you "dream big" for MB while at the same time draining it completely of revenue? Dreams, unfortunately, cost $$. We need housing, nurses, doctors and teachers. We need schools. Heather is offering $ to private tennis clubs and discounting flowers. #NightmareOnBroadway
These two images sum up the entire election choice facing Manitobans. Do you want to save 70 cents on $10 worth of plants? Or do you want to have life saving cardiac care? @HStefansonMB has become the Oprah of politicians. And you get a tax cut! And you get a tax cut! (1/2)
Gary Doer was a Premier who cared about Manitoba, and brought Manitobans together.
He balanced our budget and grew our economy while also strengthening our healthcare system and investing in social services.
We're so excited to have him join us in this role.
