When I joined the Kenya Prisons Service, Sifuna’s mother was extremely happy and proud of me.

She was my English teacher for five years at Moi Primary School in Bungoma, and she always treated me like her own son. Seeing one of her students join a uniformed service made her genuinely proud because she always wanted her students to succeed in life. I am sure she is even more proud today seeing me become an advocate for change.

Edwin Sifuna is truly a great man. He was the first politician I ever interacted with personally. When I was arrested for the first time as an activist, he offered me a lawyer from his law firm, thought the case never ended up in court.

His journey reminds me that no matter where you come from, you can become whatever you want to be. I first met him in 2006 in Kanduyi, Bungoma, at a gaming shop where we used to play PS2 GTA. Back then, I could never have imagined he would grow into the leader he is today.

He later tried to vie for the Kanduyi MP seat but was unfairly denied the ODM ticket.Looking at him today, I see a straightforward, ethical, and fearless leader who speaks his mind without compromise. If we truly want our country to become better, then we need more leaders like Edwin Sifuna.

I sincerely pray that we unite, as he has consistently urged, and send Ruto home democratically.
