This offseason, the Crimson Tide landed one of the most intriguing commitments in the transfer portal, sophomore forward Keitenn Bristow (@KeitennB) from Tarleton State. The reigning WAC Freshman of the Year, Bristow brings a unique skillset and considerable upside to Nate Oats' dynamic system.
At 6'10" and 210 pounds, Bristow has exceptional size and length for a modern forward. In his freshman campaign, he averaged 11.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, showcasing an impressive offensive repertoire. He demonstrates good awareness when driving to the rim, boasts a reliable hook shot, and a smooth fadeaway jumper. Bristow can also stretch the floor with his shooting, and when closed out on, he uses his long strides to effectively navigate around slower defenders.
One of the most encouraging aspects of Bristow's game is the noticeable growth in his confidence and aggression throughout his freshman year. He displays a soft touch around the rim and has a well-developed spin move that lets him create opportunities for either a layup or jumper.
While Bristow's potential is undeniable, the Alabama coaching staff will prioritize areas for development. Building strength will be crucial for him to compete consistently against SEC bigs, and improving his ability to create separation from defenders will further unlock his scoring potential. Additionally, I'd like to see him push the pace more in transition and be more alert for the kick when driving.
Bristow is a "unicorn" and presents an exciting opportunity for Coach Nate Oats. If Keitenn is utilized effectively and continues to tap into his vast potential, he could quickly become a player frequently mentioned in NBA draft coverage. #RollTide
