Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of visiting the Toronto Metropolitan University Urban Farm.

The Urban Farm at TMU leverages green roof requirements under City of Toronto by-laws on top of two campus buildings, which reduces the stormwater impacts of these new developments. In doing so, the TMU Urban Farm has created a community food and knowledge transfer system, blending agricultural and research practices in this urban setting.

In addition to growing vegetables and flowers, they grow crops that are used to produce fibers for clothing which will soon be used by Fashion Design students, and Indigenous crops to promote local biodiversity.
