Kellenberg Memorial High School – A Catholic school in the Marianist tradition. Official account for Kellenberg Memorial & the Bro. Joseph C. Fox Latin School.
Kellenberg Memorial was thrilled to welcome the inaugural Phoenix Scholars Program Class of 2030 cohort. These scholars represent the highest achieving academic students in their class and will participate in meaningful academic enrichment, college readiness initiatives, leadership development, and extracurricular opportunities.
Acceptance into the program provides students with academic scholarship, opportunities for cross-curricular inquiry and research, and a challenging academic experience tailored to their abilities and potential. Congratulations to the select students and families who have earned this distinction. We look forward to an outstanding four years together in the Phoenix Scholars Program
Surf For All, a nonprofit organization based in Long Beach, is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities experience the joy of the ocean.
Today, Surf For All hosted students from the Life Skills program at Long Beach High School, and the Kellenberg Surf Club was honored to join the session alongside the Long Beach surf team. Our students served as surf instructors, helping introduce these students to the waves and creating an unforgettable day at the beach.
Today we honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our country, and we pray that their courage and sacrifice are never forgotten.
‘Their remembrance be as lasting as the land they honored.’ — Daniel Webster
Recently, the Modern Art Foundry Foundation, founded by the Spring and Bursig Families, presented the annual Bob Spring Memorial Inspiring Artist Award, during the Art Showcase before the Spring Concert. This year's recipient is Elizabeth Kalin Tynan (2026). The award is given to Seniors who intend to major/minor in art or a similar field (design, animation, architecture, fashion, etc.) in college. The student must clearly have a passion for art, creativity, and imagination. The award was presented by Mr. Matthew Bursig (KMHS faculty), and members of the Modern Art Foundry Foundation Board. Congratulations to Elizabeth!
As we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord, we also celebrate the commissioning of our new Eucharistic Ministers — students called to serve with faith, reverence, and generosity.
Just as Christ sent His disciples forth, may these ministers go out with hearts rooted in service and a willingness to bring His presence to our school community. Congratulations on answering the call.
We also thank Father Chris Heller, Associate Pastor for St. Agnes and Father Hilary Nwajagu, Associate Pastor for St. Joseph in Garden City for celebrating with us.
Our celebration of America's 250th continues!! Special thanks to Former NASA Protocol Officer John Rantal, who spoke to the History Club about his experience in Mission Control during the 1969 Moon Landing.
Today we celebrate the women who first taught us faith, compassion, strength, and love. From every prayer whispered in the stands to every ride to school, every lunch packed, every late-night conversation, and every sacrifice made without recognition — thank you, Moms.
Your love reflects the light of Christ in countless ways, and the Kellenberg family is stronger because of you.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and mother figures in our Firebird community.
Celebrating the birthday of the one and only William Shakespeare! Last week our English classes held a celebration of laughter, creativity, and just a touch of Elizabethan drama—safe to say Shakespeare would be proud.
Honoring the life and witness of Saint Gianna Beretta Molla — a model of courage, love, and unwavering faith.
A beautiful Mass celebrating a woman who chose life, trusted God completely, and reminds us what true sacrifice looks like.
“Love and sacrifice are closely linked, like the sun and the light.”
We would like to thank Father Steven McClernon of @BeachCatholic for celebrating with us.
8th grade members of the Aquinas Program have worked tirelessly throughout the year researching, interviewing, collecting data, and preparing their presentations for the Aquinas Expo on May 1st.
Yesterday, Team Acutis worked in the trainer's room to learn about sport's injuries, how to wrap certain injuries and how it plays a role in an athlete's well being.
Keep up the good work!!
This year, Kellenberg Memorial's National Honor Society partnered with Bright Future School in Kasule, Uganda—a new Catholic school serving Nursery through First Grade students with very limited resources.

The true spirit of Marianist hospitality. As our seniors traveled to Madrid they stopped at their second Marianist school, Colegio Nuestra Señora del Pilar, and shared in the rich tradition of Marianist education. You may even see some patriotic Firebird shirts being worn by our fellow Marianist students!!
Huge shoutout to our dedicated STEM scholars—Ava Birne, Talene Mastacciuola, Brooke Oldenborg, and Lauren Reyes—who have been hard at work in the lab. These students are conducting specialized research and design for the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge (HERC) in an exciting partnership with Chaminade High School.
Beyond their own engineering work, these leaders are also spreading their passion for the STEM field by mentoring our Tyros during their lab sessions. It takes incredible focus and technical skill to compete at this level, and we are so proud to see our Firebirds inspiring the next generation of scientists. Go get ‘em, engineers!! And today just happens to be International Day of Women and Girls in Science!!
A celebration of Black History Month at Kellenberg Memorial. The One Heart, One Mind, Many Cultures Club has sponsored a number of great events so far.

We thank Victoria White '28 for creating an engaging Kahoot to learn about history and culture.
We were entertained by one of our newest clubs, the Kellenberg Memorial Step Team.
