PARLIAMENT | Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had exercised his power granted under the Federal Constitution to consider the seven "heritage" footballers fit to be granted Malaysian citizenship, the Dewan Rakyat heard today.
Saifuddin said Article 20(1)(e)provides discretionary power to a home minister when considering a citizenship application from a foreigner, particularly in the fulfilment of the minimum residency requirements.
"In the Constitution, there is a section called 20(1)(e), where the minister can use his discretionary powers.
"The power under 20(1)(e) means that the definition of 'residency' in the constitution allows for the applicant's presence outside the country to still be considered as being within the country."

The Malaysian football association has been accused of falsifying citizenship documents so seven foreign-born players could play for the national team. 🚨
@_amrlhfdz@ManUtd Kau pun follow indy eh? Aku follow from Uniten. Dulu indy meme account. Semua transfer dia main tipu. This time @David_Ornstein guna source dia utk report transfer. Peeghhh. This is true LEGEND.
@Nazmeer11 I still can’t believe he did this to Asian fans. Europe fans will probably be in his house by now if he did it there. Disgrace to the next level.
Liverpool fans booing Trent Alexander-Arnold are so pathetic. One of the club’s longest-serving and most loyal players, just helped win them the League, now seeking a new challenge abroad…. and they jeer him? Give your heads a wobble, you graceless clowns.

Many Malaysians are not angry about high tariffs on US goods because they have been brainwashed to see it as supporting the local economy.
The best example? Proton, our national car project.
To protect Proton, the government imposed high import duties on foreign cars.
This made Proton look affordable while foreign cars became luxury items.
Malaysians were told it was patriotic to “buy Malaysian” and settle for inferior cars. Yes, inferior.
But over time, this backfired:
• Quality stagnated
• Consumers paid more for less
• Competition was stifled
• Protectionism for bumiputera
The real cost? Malaysians were quietly overcharged for decades.
Our cities are even built to be car-dependent to support national car lol
Not just for cars, but for many foreign goods. Yet most never questioned it because tariffs are hidden in prices.
It is time to rethink outdated protectionism.
