@SteveSweeney_NJ Thank you for funding our schools at 100% of SFRA, not the 30% we lived with before S2; for so much of what you tried to accomplish with the Path to Progress, and for your work with those with disabilities. Wishing you the best of luck.
Here's what I think is happening:
1. The media, with low ratings, saw blood in the water after the debate and ran with sensational and inaccurate headlines to generate profit. They have admitted this.
2. That, in turn, influenced big money dem donors who then threatened to pull their big money because the MEDIA was tanking some polls.
3. That, in turn, worried party leaders who need that big money to win because shitheads like Musk can donate $45M per month to trump thanks to Citizens United, and those dem leaders expressed their concern about losing that money.
4. That, in turn, caused the media - again with garbage ratings bleeding cash - to report that party leaders want Biden to step aside (not because they don't think he can do the job, but because other rich people were extorting them)
5. And that greed has led to the snowball effect we are seeing. It's all about money. Not democracy. The media and big donors are selling out democracy and the will of the voters over money.
Corporate media has failed us.
@stateaidguy Yeah, I generally don’t mind the concept but much too easy to get on the ballot. Same in CA, where there were something like 40 candidates for Senate the last time Feinstein ran. Technically more democratic, but not in any way that’s helpful.
@stateaidguy Yeah. I think you need some sort of process or else you end up with messes like the WA governor’s race. How is this helpful?

@stateaidguy@RepAOC I do believe those who already paid should receive tax credits for the amount they paid in interest beyond their principal, though.
@stateaidguy@RepAOC I’m not even a little bit insulted. This entire system is rigged to trap people in debt forever, and it’s ridiculous to begin with: student loans should be interest-free, and once the principal is paid off, along with some reasonable administrative cost, that should be it.
@stateaidguy@Peter1987Fallow Don’t hold me to it, but I think it might be doable if it were possible to stack the additional lane over the NJT line. But I do think it’s badly needed. (Almost as badly as reopening the 8th Street entrance to 280 W.)
@stateaidguy 100%. All those years when we were getting $.32 on the dollar of our SFRA aid, we were still way above adequacy. (I think you can make a very fair argument that we had no choice in the matter, if we wanted to remain a desirable place to live.)
@stateaidguy Ohhhh that’s fascinating, our tax base increased? The vocal “WO is terrible” minority is going to love hearing that! Thanks, I knew you’d know what was happening.
@stateaidguy I’ve been out of this for a while now … any sense of why WO’s aid is down this year? After our long slow slog up from 32% of SFRA to 100%, I’m not complaining, just looking to understand it.
School shootings continue, kids feeling more disconnected and hopeless, skies choked with smoke as kids sit in crumbling buildings, chronic school underfunding, teaching less desirable profession than ever...
And you're worried about some trans kid making the track team.
@DanLevin_inJC@stateaidguy I think it could be a range, based on the # of anticipated kids from the Rutgers formulas -- a LOT of PILOTs are for senior housing (nearly impossible to build otherwise) and the district shouldn't need ~60% of those. Similar w/ luxury apts & ones aimed at young professionals.
