5 red flags that should concern anyone who cares about health 🚩
🚩 People are encouraged to distrust expertise while being offered no better evidence in return.
For example, people are told not to trust scientists or medical professionals, yet no credible alternative sources of evidence are provided.
🚩 Experts are dismissed without evidence.
For example, qualified researchers or doctors are criticized personally instead of having their data or conclusions examined.
🚩 Scientific debate is replaced by ideology.
For example, complex scientific questions are treated as political loyalty tests rather than topics open to discussion and review.
🚩 Research funding becomes a political target.
For example, grants are reduced or redirected based on political pressure rather than scientific merit.
🚩 Public health decisions become less transparent.
For example, important policy changes are made without clearly explaining the supporting data or decision making process.
You do not have to blindly trust institutions.
But you should be skeptical when evidence matters less than politics.

I have a pretty simple philosophy when it comes to this...
If somebody puts time into something and that something provides value to others, they should get paid for that time.
Doesn't matter what it is...
- Writing
- Software
- Art (a friend just painted a picture of our dog. Didn't ask for any $, but we paid her, 'cause it's the right thing to do.
When you pay people, the value of the thing being exchanged stays high & the transaction (what's actually being exchanged) is transparent.
So, no I'm not getting rich off my writing, but I think my experience over the decades offers sufficient value that it's worth a Starbucks order a month.
@CoffeeBlackMD@Alan_Couzens Always feel fortunate to go 14-16 hrs of structure and 14 walking. Biggest thing I am grateful for in reading Alan, Gordo and their friends is making my mornings available + freedom at work to do business on foot. #Thewealthoftime
If wishes were horses beggars would ride. 😁
Man if I had 3-6 months to just leave it all behind and get trained for awhile. That would be amazing. I’d never be elite. I understand my role as in this world as a try hard. But even then. After 6 months. Then what.
It’s a blessing if life allows. Which isn’t to say most of us can’t find more time. But most of us for other reasons will never have that much time. And when I think about it too much I get a bit down. But as the saying goes anything worth doing for 30 hours per week is STILL worth doing for 3-5. Or. Even 1.5. We can all do SOME.
@BiggestComeback That’s true, no message even from the top to support that, only conspiracy theories, promoting fear, and cutting of everything . No success ever when all is cut
I'm not sure if Gordon Wood has any equal as a historian of the founding era. His book "Empire of Liberty" is magnificent. His lifelong theme was how America became America and how we all became Americans. Nothing was ever sugar-coated. We may never see his life again. RIP. https://t.co/6rjBJCKqUR
One of the most important skills for excellent performance (and really, for an excellent life) is showing up even, and perhaps especially, when you don’t really want to. You’ve got to get beyond all this optimization stuff. Growth and progress is a beautiful slog.
