On November 9, 2025, on my 50th birthday, and after leading in Ministry for the last 10-years with the @TheFCATeam it was time for my first Sabbatical. I chose to spend it on the Mountains to Sea Trail in North Carolina for 30 straight days. This, is my journey to deeper Faith.

You’ve probably heard of it before: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥.

The word in Greek is 𝘦𝘶𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 and means “𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨.” In the English translations of our Bibles we’ll see “𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨” and “𝙜𝙤𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙡” used interchangeably.

Across the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John; known as 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘭𝘴, we read accounts about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the Good News that in Him, is salvation.

But what I also find interesting about the word 𝘦𝘶𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 in Greek, is that it breaks out as 𝘦𝘶 meaning "good" and 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘴 meaning "𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧” and is the root to the word we know well: evangelist… a specific role given to some (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Romans 10:15 (CSB): “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨.”

Why should #TEAM #FCA get younger? The Barna Research Group galls it the "𝐀𝐠𝐞 𝟏𝟑 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰." A central premise of their research is that a person's core worldview is substantially formed by the age of 13, making the pre-teen years the critical window for integrating these specific tenets.

So, whether we start #Huddles on existing Rec Leagues around our Area, or start our own Coastal NC FCA Sports Leagues, we can't wait until they are on a Middle School Campus to share the Good News. It's time to change the game, much sooner!

I've done a LOT of hard things. So many I chose, and so many I didn't. So what gets me through? Am I tough, strong, harden, etc? Absolutely... but not how you think.

I've gotten into this so many times with people who believe things like:

- "God doesn't give you any more than you can handle."
- "God only gives His toughest assignments to His toughest soldiers"
- "the devil said, "you can't handle the storm" and I replied "I am the storm."

I believe these things to so often come from a good place, to give people 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 to endure. But you have to be very careful about how your heart receives these sorts of mantras. Because what God does do, is put you into situations that require you to rely on Him. What God does is give grace to the humble. And what He does, is routinely choose one, with the kind of Faith... needed to inspire many.

Isaiah 7:9 (CSB): "If you do not 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 firm in your Faith, then you will not 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 at all."

...understanding this verse means everything. Because here's what's so crazy... both "𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 firm" and "𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 at all" are both the exact same Hebrew word meaning: believe/trust (𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦). Friends, if you do not believe, you will not have the 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 to endure.

So... Galatians 5:1 (CSB): "𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦, then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery."

FCA isn't just happens when our Staff are present, but it's what happens when we leave that changes the game. Volunteer leaders who themselves are answering their own call from the Lord. As we prepare for our next Ministry Year starting on September 1, we'll be communicating with our Volunteers to get them ready to serve.

FCA is committed to providing safe ministry environments for all of our teammates, so they have chosen the Volunteer Impact Portal (VIP) as the platform to satisfy our insurance and risk management directives. It is required for all FCA Volunteers to go through the Application process in the VIP and become "Fully Qualified" to serve with us so let the Application process begin!
