🚧 What’s happening at the Lehigh Valley Railroad Superfund site?

Cleanup work is moving forward near Gulf Road in LeRoy, New York.

This spring and summer, crews will remove old piping, collect more soil samples and prepare for additional removal of soil contaminated with TCE from the former spill area.

During the work, crews will monitor the air for dust and site contaminants. Contaminated material will be sent to an approved off-site disposal facility, and a soil cover will be placed over the area when the work is complete.

The work will continue in stages into fall 2026 under EPA oversight.

@SteveMcNY I agree that it’s time to look at district consolidation where it makes sense (e.g. population served, distance between existing facilities, distances to facilities) but I’m not ready for 62 districts where parents and students are lost in a county beauracracy.
