I have said for a while that esports as we know it will cease to exist in the next 5 years or so as the ecosystem is not keeping up with the demand of players worldwide, nor brands that want to support the growth of gaming.
I raised $1M on this hypothesis, built a product on this vision, and seeing what is happening to many esports leagues have a nice calm confidence that we were right and our time is coming. The market will catch up and we're here, ready.
Esports needs zero barrier to entry, no red tape, no bureaucracy, and cater to every type of gamer, not just fighting, FPS, racing etc. Until a gamer with god-like skills in a game (whatever game that is) can wake up, and decide "My journey as a pro gamer starts today" and they can begin earning THAT DAY, esports has not finished evolving.
Hemming and hawing about what amounts to stop-gaps for antiquated models is only slowing the inevitable.
Iโve seen you trying to advocate for creators, developing a deeper understanding of the economics of streaming, optimizing their content, and being generally helpful all around. I have to agree with you here that all of those things I mentioned are not impossible when twitch isnโt similarly motivated or even consistent.
@Jese_PowerGPU Thanks for taking the time. Iโll mark Star Citzen down for inclusion on https://t.co/cK0BbiIeFE but Iโm unfamiliar with its mechanics so will need to research a bit and see if there is an easy fit with our system. Thanks again ๐ป
@ALovelyRaven Iโve researched this extensively, and written on the topic quite a bit as we continue to build https://t.co/cK0BbiIeFE and you have hit the nail on the head here. They cannot do anything about it because it is against their business model to fully nuke the bots.
Twitch Preroll Ads may now be up to 90 seconds long, instead of 30.
Midroll Ads may now stretch to up to 4 minutes (even if the streamer sets them to 3 minutes).

We were about to catch our big break and snag an epic Apex Academy partner and it just fell through. Our point of contact lost their job. This has happened with previous orgs deals and partners. My heart goes out to the amazing people weโve connected with working in an industry with so much turnover. ๐ซ
Weโre still looking for any companies or brands that would like to work together.
We have a solid CCV and insanely dedicated supportive community with consistent well organized tournaments.
