Securing the most lucrative contract in Bayern history at 33 years old is an absolute financial masterclass, but the football gods will still find a way to make him finish 2nd in the Bundesliga
THE GIRL I DIDN'T LET IN
It happened on a cold Thursday night.
I'd just returned home when someone knocked on my apartment door. It was a girl I'd never seen before, probably in her late twenties. She was wearing a grey coat, her hair was damp from the rain, and she looked as though she'd been crying.
She asked if she could use my phone because hers had died.
I was tired, suspicious and honestly not in the mood to entertain a stranger at midnight.
I told her I couldn't help.
She stood there for a few seconds, looking disappointed, then nodded.
"That's alright. Sorry to bother you."
I closed the door.
I didn't think about her again until three nights later, when I found her sitting on the stairs outside my apartment.
She looked up and smiled.
"You're the man who wouldn't let me use his phone."
I apologised, and she laughed.
Her name was Gwen. She said she lived somewhere in the building, although I couldn't remember ever seeing her before.
We ended up talking for nearly an hour.
She was funny in a quiet way, the sort of person who made ordinary conversations feel unexpectedly interesting. She asked why I lived alone, whether I was happy with my life and if I ever missed someone I hadn't spoken to in years.
I asked why she was always sitting outside my apartment.
She said she liked the staircase because it was the only place in the building where she could hear the rain.
I started looking forward to seeing her.
Over the next few days, we'd spend evenings together. Sometimes we'd sit on the stairs until late. Other times she'd come into my apartment and we'd watch films, argue about music or talk about things neither of us usually told people.
She never seemed particularly interested in my phone or television. She preferred talking.
One evening, I asked if she had a boyfriend.
She said, "Not anymore."
I asked what happened.
She looked away.
"Sometimes people leave before you realise you've been waiting for them."
There was something about Gwen that made me feel comfortable in a way I hadn't experienced for years.
I told her things about my childhood, my failed relationships and how exhausting it was pretending I was doing well when I wasn't.
She listened without trying to fix everything.
One night, we were sitting on my sofa when she rested her head against my shoulder.
I turned towards her, and we kissed.
It wasn't planned. It happened slowly, almost hesitantly, as if we were both waiting for the other person to change their mind.
We ended up spending most of the night together, talking, kissing and falling asleep beside each other.
In the morning, she was gone.
I wasn't particularly worried. I assumed she'd gone back to her apartment.
But I didn't see her that evening.
Or the next.
When I finally saw her again, she was standing outside my door.
I asked where she'd been.
She smiled and said, "I wanted to see if you'd miss me."

One thing Iβve always felt is that managing money in Web3 should come with more transparency.
Thatβs what caught my attention about @FBYTio.
With FBYT, you can open your own vault on Solana, manage your trading strategy and build a track record that anyone can verify on-chain.
I also like that investors aren't left guessing. They can look at the vault's activity, understand the fee structure and check withdrawal conditions before deciding to invest.
You can manage trades manually or use automation, while the funds remain inside the smart contract.
I think this kind of transparency makes a real difference. In the end, showing what you actually do is more meaningful than simply talking about performance. π
