The Grizzly Athletics family lost a legend this week.

Beloved equipment manager Steve Hackney, who served at UM for 30 years, passed away on Tuesday. He was 81.

Montana’s equipment complex is named the Hackney Athletic Equipment Center in his honor. He also became UM’s first-ever recipient of the Grizzly Lifetime Honors Award in 2018.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones.
