@noiseykid@byeleni@marcrousset6 There are reports of thousands of homes without power in Cumbria as well but that's due to the storms over the weekend. Parts of Lancashire were hit pretty hard as well. Aren't these storms a result of the mega El Nino weather event?
@marcwebber Does Burnham have shares in wind-up radio and bottled water companies? But we all know that when the panic buying starts it'll be the bog roll that will sell out first.
@ErfinderRotwang@brenkav I'm beginning to think this was all rigged. Does that woman even work for the council or is she an actor? Definitely something fishy going on here. I just hope Bedford council staff aren't being bombarded with too many abusive emails today.
@Sobriquet4me At our last house our next door neighbours had a dog called Storm. So this is going to make me think of the Eels song Dog Faced Boy...
Ma won't shave me, Jesus can't save me
Life ain't pretty for a dog faced boy

@Hazzreid@ShahrarAli Is Corbyn's Your Party still going? Not heard anything from them in ages. Bit like the Alba Party in Scotland. They had some big names joining them but then just faded into the background.
@ShahrarAli Sounds about right for Polanski's mob. And it'll be interesting to see how many Labour councils ditch their power-sharing agreements with the Greens.

@JulianEllacott I've had a quick look on local Bedford news websites and can find no mention of this story. So it looks like it's all a storm in a pretend cafe teacup.
@JulianEllacott I'd the interested to know if this story was covered by the local press. I'm guessing that what we're seeing is part of or maybe just the conclusion of the story.
@brenkav Someone is obviously bearing a grudge (sorry, couldn't resist it). Have you installed solar panels or something similar that a disgruntled neighbour is unhappy about? But how did they know about the pretend cafe? And what was the website the council officer was talking about?
And we have no idea if Reform will be any good at running the country. All voters can do is watch and see how they run the various County Councils they control between now and the next General Election. So far here in Lancs they've done about as well as the last Tory administration. But fixing potholes in the roads is one thing. Fixing the current black hole in the public finances is quite another.
Go and watch some old episodes of Yes Minister. My aunt worked in the Foreign Office and loved that programme. She said it was often so close to reality that the scriptwriters must have had contacts in Whitehall. As the saying goes - it doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always wins.
