The Kenya Editors Guild was pleased to attend the British High Commission’s media reception, where we welcomed Anna Dubuis, the new Head of Communications for Kenya and Somalia, and bid farewell to Georgina WH.

We appreciate Georgina’s engagement with Kenya’s media sector and look forward to working closely with Anna to strengthen collaboration in advancing media freedom, professional journalism, and shared democratic values.

Our sincere appreciation to H.E. Matt Baugh, the UK High Commissioner to Kenya, for hosting the reception and for the British High Commission’s continued engagement with the media fraternity.

KEG Zubeidah Kananu, @MediaCouncilK CEO David Omwoyo, and @KUJ_Kenya Secretary-General Eric Oduor today held a high-level meeting with the Executive Director of IGAD Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu to deepen regional cooperation on journalism and media development across Eastern Africa.

The discussions focused on the media’s role in promoting regional integration, peace and security, journalists’ safety and well-being, and strengthening collaboration ahead of the IGAD Media Awards later this year.

They also explored practical areas of partnership, including harmonizing media policies and professional standards, promoting cross-border collaboration, leveraging technology and home-grown innovations to improve service delivery, investing in telling the African story, and expanding exchange programmes and capacity-building initiatives for journalists across the region.
